I’ve had the discussion a number of times through the years.

Horrendous song that pulls you in. Endless. A train wreck.  Morbid fascination. You don’t want to listen but you have to.  Hate it.

Harris was a good actor.

Back in the day my brother and I would break into a very loud monotone rendition of the verse with Someone Left the cake out in the rain…I don’t think that I can take it…cause it took so long to bake it…and I’ll never have have that recipe again…oh noooooo

It kind of became a thing in our circle of friends.  And all would joking in or request that it be sung at parties as some sort of feel good ritual. 

That’s my favorite memory of this song. 

Otherwise a pretty sappy dramatic song.
