Donovan Mitchell scored or assisted on 99 points tonight.

That's the second most in a game in NBA history behind Wilt Chamberlain in his 100-point game on March 2, 1962 (104).

I made a note of this earlier in the season, but it seems like every night someone is putting up 40 points or more.

Modern teams are content to let one or two players carry them, instead of scoring as a team. I prefer when there’s 3-4 players scoring between 16-25 points instead of 1 scoring 40-50 or two scoring 30.

The Celtics are at their best when the J’s score around 25 apiece and a 3rd teammate scores 16-20. That’s not happening as often lately and often they both notch 30 while we lose.

I was wondering if the J’s are getting close to the all time Celtics mark for 30 point combo games last week. I was thinking Bird and McHale are probably number one, but perhaps their total has already been topped? Pierce and Antoine might be in the running too, but I suspect they’re third on the list.

Scoring is getting back to the run and gun levels of the early ‘80s and it’s almost routine that someone is scoring 50, or scoring 40 and grabbing 20 rebounds. I don’t think the players are better, rather the team philosophy has changed to concentrate offense on one player.

This + Doncic's 60/20/10 game have both been unreal. Like, hard to comprehend. Wow!

It’s been a good week for stars and super stars putting up big numbers. Lebron had 47, Giannis had b2b 40 point games, one combined with 20 rebounds. Joker and Embiid had some games. Even Klay Thompson dropped 54.

It’s fun for fans that like seeing one guy go off, but what about the rest of the team? I like watching a team game. I prefer an inside out game, but realize this is the era of the 3 point shot and not the game I grew up playing and watching. If the Celtics didn’t exist I wouldn’t watch the NBA anymore.

I stopped watching college basketball years ago thanks to what happened after it became a 3-pt no defense one-and-done league. At least the WNBA still plays basketball the way it was designed to be played, with passing, defense and an interesting interior game.

While not a star, add Steven Adams averaging 20.3 rpg over the last 3 games to the list.

The Cavs are so young and tough.

On another note, talent wise the Cavs might currently have on their team what will end up as 5 of the 6 best players in their franchise's history (based on totality of career in Cleveland).  If those guys stick around long enough Garland, Mitchell, Mobley, and Allen all could be end up there and Love is arguably #2 behind Lebron right now.  Obviously Daugherty, Price, and Irving are all in the discussion as well, but Big Z is 2nd all time in points and rebounds (and he is the top shot blocker) and I don't think anyone would put Big Z in that sort of pantheon.  They clearly need more time, but from a pure talent standpoint they all have a chance to end up behind Lebron (and who knows maybe Garland or Mobley stays there 15 years at an All NBA level for much of that eclipsing Lebron).

2 minute report says Mitchell left the foul line early and his game tying bucket as time expired should not have counted. He would have finished with 15 less points (that 2 and the 13 in OT) had it been properly called during the game.

Awww, and he gets slapped with a "random" PED test  ;D

But seriously tho, if they're gonna lament over this then they need to make every call right and all those non-calls folks get away with like Giannis' 6-step travels or charges he makes.
