For comparison, NBA draft net, a pretty serious site had bronny 49 in an update two weeks ago.

https://nbadraftroom.com/p/2024-nba-mock-draft/
Nba draft room has him 29.

Definitely an element of this being clickbait here. It’s just not in the ballpark of what anyone else has. Now maybe he has word some
NBA gms will actually do a huge reach for bronny to Lebron for cheap but that is not what the article says.

No offense, but Givony is more reputable on prospective players than what you are citing.  He founded Draft Express before moving over to ESPN a few years ago, along with Mike Schmitz (who now works for the Trailblazers and was influential in drafting Shaedon Sharp).

Givony and Schmitz were the first to project LaMelo Ball as a top 3 prospect, a couple of years before the 2020 draft.  When I posted the story on CS, received the same ridicule that Bronny is now receiving.  I trust the source, which is reliable.  We shall see.

Rivals has him as the 43rd ranked player in his class.  And I don’t think that includes foreign players.

Perhaps he was/is marginally better than these other sites but the other sites are legitimate sites. It’s also not very uncommon for people to change their reporting style once they go to espn. Not acknowledging this is willful ignorance. A lot of people don’t know this but Steven a smith was actually a really respected beat reporter at one point. Even a lifelong highly revered reporter like Jackie McMullen has transitioned to doing a lot more hot takes when on shows like around the horn.

This is also just basic business. I’m putting bronny 10th this mock draft was picked up by every sports outlet everywhere and generated many millions of clicks. If he has him 28 which is probably a lot more realistic that is not happening.

Yeah unless he grows or has a monster year in college or for the gleague ignite he is getting nowhere close to the tenth pick on merit. Whether a team like the Knicks would draft him 12th to get Lebron for a year, who knows.

Not sure if it is still the case but Givony used to base his mock drafts on where he thought teams ranked a player rather than where he himself ranked a player. This was based on conversations with scouts and team insiders.

He has a pretty good track record.

He is good close to the draft cause he is connected. But looking at his projection from a little over a year before the 2022 draft he had some massive whiffs.

Ones that jump out Caleb Houston. He had 5 went 32.
Nzoza he had going 6. He went end of second round.
He had Watson going 9, he went 30
Kennedy chandler was 13 he went second round.

I’m not sure I personally would have whiffs that bad myself but either way underscores why the whole thing this far in advance is ridiculous and just for clicks

Bronny getting pretty rave reviews from the McDonald's All America game.  Nailing 5 of 8 3 pointers.  He will need that sort of shooting to really reach full potential.

Saw his projected NIL deals were over 7 million. I get that is more about his name than his skill, but that is a ton of money in NIL deals.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

For Bronny, I think it's a huge mistake to play with his dad and continue to ride his coat-tails into his professional career, but that's just me.

I kinda agree with this. The less pressure the better for him.

I just saw a Mock Draft for 2024 that had the C's taking Bronny at 29.  I know, way too early for a 2024 Mock, but what the heck:

That’s obviously a bit more realistic with his current ranking than the clickbait 10 article. I personally wouldn’t want him on the Celtics. Pretty ready for his dad to retire

Imagine the joy from a few people if we drafted Bronny and signed LeBron on a vet min deal

Well Boston is going to have the 30th pick so he won't be available for Boston to draft if he goes 29.

And if Boston is picking that late, they should draft the best player available.  If that is Bronny, so be it, if it isn't that is fine also.  Just take the best player and hope he develops into a Jimmy Butler type 30th pick.
