Were I a ref and these guys start dropping like that, I'd double the time wasted in added time.

Bale hasn't played a full match in probably a year and a half, maybe 2 years. Figures he goes the full 90 and scores today.

1-1…US will be kicking themselves for giving away a penalty but I think it’s ultimately a fair result, we dominated the first half but Wales dominated the second

Give Wales credit. They had a pretty professional performance. Plan A didn't work so they kicked it into gear in the 2nd half, mucked things up enough so that our speed and ability to counter got neutralized, and capitalized on our one big mistake.

It's a missed opportunity though and the route to the 2nd round just got harder.

Hard fought game, but that ref was absolutely boning the USA all game long. Yellow cards, fouls, but then not calling anything on Wales even if it was egregious. That said, seeing every player for each team seemingly go down for 5 minutes with a cramp or "injury" was also a bit ridiculous in the 2nd half. Felt like it also happened when a certain team was making a push up field with a run which ruined the flow of the game

Pulisic was getting bodied and tossed most of the 2nd half but the ref barely called anything and let it happen

Denmark and Tunisia draw at 0-0.

Mexico and Poland are 0-0 at the half.

France and Australia still to come.  If Australia pulls the upset it will be one of the strangest days in World Cup history.

I love the game of soccer but the gamesmanship when it comes to contact and "injury" is pathetic at the top levels of the game. The flopping and faking of injuries makes it unenjoyable to watch at times.

It's a major reason I rarely watch soccer.

As Phantom mentioned, and it's when I made the post, the 2nd half of that USA-Wales game was pathetic in this regard. The refs lost control. Thee players knew the refs could be "played" and it lead to some ridiculous faking of injuries and horrible officiating. The two times the refs stopped play when a player went down faking an injury while their opponent controlled the ball isn't the way the game is supposed to be reffed. It was terrible and the game became borderline unwatchable. 11 minutes of extra time....my god.....most due to completely fake injuries.

If there's one fan base that can never complain about flopping in soccer, then it has to be basketball fans. There's a lot of time, when I find the game of basketball embarrassing with all the flopping and complaining because another player grazed him.

Nonsense.  I blame soccer for introducing flopping to the NBA, so I can still hate soccer.
