Regarding the franchise mode of NBA 2K23, basically you can start any team in 1983, 1991, 2002 or 2022 and almost all the historical players/salaries/caps/coaches are in there. As you move into future years, you load the actual draft class. It is basically an alternative history video game focused on the NBA. And when you play the games in the 20th century, they appear like a broadcast from the time period (although you can turn that feature off). The appearance of the players even changes over the eras (MJ in 1984 looks a lot different from 1991 MJ who looks a lot different from MJ in 2002).

I cannot believe it has taken them this long to introduce something like this. Sounds good
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Tried playing the Xbox One version tonight and apparently the my era feature is exclusive to current gen versions, which is uber lame since I do not have a second Xbox Series X or second PS5 in the primary bedroom.

I know modders have done this kind of thing on PC to a few of the 2k gens. I always wanted to give it a try. I WILL be finding a way to get either Timmy D or Durant in Celtic green. Super excited that they added this feature to gm modes.

I have long loved the franchise mode for 2k. I try to be as realistic as the game allows (like not trading for superstars unless its a kings ransom, realistic salaries, etc.) It helps scratch the arm chair gm part of my brain.
