That lineup is depressing.

If Correa and the Mets can't agree to something, then the Sox should swoop in and get him on a short-term deal which he'll probably have to accept at this point (3-4 years, filled with options/incentives)

What is his medical issue that teams are concerned about?  Might be risky even for 3-4 years.

Correa's ankle injury from 2014 and flare ups since. Teams are concerned about the long-term stability of his leg, and that could also hamper his mobility as he ages past 30.

We don't know specifics obviously but I bet the teams would know this. Giants already backed out of it, and Mets are also discussing it and working with Correa on an updated deal for now

FWIW, people did find it odd that during the LAST offseason, when Correa was projected to get 300M+, he didn't get it and instead had to sign with MIN for a 3/110M deal with the options after each year (which he exercised after just 1 season to enter this year's FA). Makes you wonder if this was also a concern last year with teams but it's only become public this season

I was thinking the same thing, but then I remembered the Red Sox medical staff might be the worst in sports in medical evaluations. Correa could be missing his legs, and the Red Sox medical staff would still clear him. If two other teams wouldn't clear him medically, then something has to be very concerning.

Never mind. Correa has agreed with the Twins now, 6/200M

So Giants + Mets signed him for 300M+ then saw his medicals and were like "nope" lol

amazing how just 5 years ago the Sox were seen as a team with a bright future having a bunch of great young players to develop into a perennial contender only to be left with Devers out of that bunch.  serious franchise mismanagement.

Yup. Should've just been willing to pay the big luxury tax to lock up Betts.

"Pending physical" for the Twins too.  He was just in Minnesota so you'd think they'd know what they're getting into, but the Mets seemed pretty confident three weeks ago.

They only gave him 6 years though.  It might be one of those injuries that they are most concerned about deteriorating over time.  So the longer the contract the more concern his leg gives out during it.  Perhaps 6 years is the sweet spot on that, and if he makes it through still healthy, he will only be 33 and can go again into free agency.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

The Boston Who Sox

Not a lot of power in that line up, that is for sure.  We had 155 HR last season (9th in AL).  We lost Bogaerts (15 Hr) and Martinez (16 Hr).  We'll see how Yoshida does but that line up should have good OBP.  We should still score runs.  Maybe Story has a bounce back year, provides some power.  Casas may give us more power at 1B than we had last season.  Verdugo and Hernandez should both be better (I'll remain optimistic).

As I said elsewhere though, it is the starting pitching that worries me, not the line up.  We will score runs, but not 6 or 7 a game.  We averaged about 4.54 runs/gm, 4th best in the AL, last season.  We gave up 4.85 runs/gm, 14th in the AL.  We have big questions in the starting rotation.

The Boston Red Sox announced that infielder Trevor Story on Monday underwent a successful internal bracing procedure on the ulnar collateral ligament of his right elbow. The procedure, which is an alternative to Tommy John surgery, will likely necessitate a lengthy absence for Story --- four to six months, typically.
