Can someone explain to me how the heck they were playing the San Diego padres? I thought that was a glorified farm team?

Also glad it's the Phillies.  Any team is better than the Yankees!  I would have preferred the Guardians over the Astros.  Phillies in 6...

Baseball is a sport where if you have 2 starting pitchers that get hot at the right and same time, you can win no matter how good the other team is or even how poorly the rest of your team plays (on the whole).  It is much like hockey where if your goalie gets on fire, you can dominate.  That was the Phillies this post season.  Their starting pitching has just played incredibly well for a month.  That is all it takes.  Add in a couple of timely hits and you win.
