Embiid, Harden, Maxey and Harris (4 of their starters) combined for 92 points.

Rest of the Sixers? 13 points. Lol.

Their bench has been outscored 103-34 in the 3 games they've played. I thought someone said their bench was better than ours

Good thing they paid PJ Tucker $33m (fully guaranteed) to score 5 points a game and play defence that doesn't fit their scheme

Gouki, this really intrigues me and I've only seen the one Sixers game. What do you mean that his defense doesn't fit their scheme? Serious question.

I like Tucker. I think he's an awesome role player and certainly a valuable player to have in the playoffs especially for the defense and veteran leadership.

But asking him to be a regular starter in a long season for 11M AAV probably wasn't good business. He's also 37 now so I wonder how he'll look in the 2nd half + playoffs if they continue to play him fairly heavy minutes the next few months

Spending the MLE on Tucker was a wasted opportunity to improve their team.

Daryl Morey has lost his fastball. He had a few years there where he spotted market ineffeciencies and exploited them well early on in Houston. A few 4yr college vet 2nd round picks. Some quality role players like Ariza. Some young and improving up and comers like Lowry and Dragic.

But the rest of the NBA has caught up to him. He doesn't get those high value 2nd round picks anymore. He doesn't identify and acquire those up and coming stars anymore.

So what does he bring to the table?

A mediocre basketball mind whose prior statistical / analytic advantage has evaporated.

What's up with Thybulle?  I thought he was supposed to be the second coming of Marcus Smart.

Didn't we trade him to the Sixers?

I can't remember what we got in return?  Ty Jerome, but we traded him for two other picks (one was Carsen Edwards-- ugggh).

Anyway, does Thybulle suck?

2time All-Defense but can't get off the bench for a team that really needs backcourt defense and bench help. I'm not getting it.

I just keep coming back to, Doc Rivers quite simply blows as a head coach.  Probably not the worst coach in the league, but if you wanted to argue he was, I wouldn't fight anyone on it.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Scheme may have been the wrong word, maybe personnel? A bulky, slower defender (Tucker) was not the kind of guy they needed with Embiid, Harden and Harris. Someone with more lateral quickness and verticality, whilst probably being weaker, would have better suited them IMO. Tucker is too slow, and will only get slower.

He is essentially useless on offence. Might be that

True, but on a team with Harden, Embiid, Maxey, and Harris, it isn't like they need offense.

No, it's just bad coaching to not be able to make them work

I just watched Game 1 and it seems to me that Embiid hasn't grown or improved much at all in the last few years.  Sure, when he's in the lane he's pretty unstoppable.  But outside of the lane,  he's a detriment to the team.  Go ahead Joel, take a few more 3's.  Please.
Last two seasons he was a 37% shooter from deep and averaged 30PPG. Averaged over 4APG last season too. I think this undersells his complete offensive game over the last 24 months.

I just think teams have zeroed in on his struggle areas. Double him when he catches it low, try and muscle him into poor positioning on the catch (which he is too willing to give up), and run in transition whilst he flops to the ground.

If teams bothered to guard him that 3pt % would be lower.

IMO defenses dare him to shoot it and rightfully so. As a Celtic fan I like seeing him at the arc. It usually means good things for Boston.
