He seems like a perfect end of bench ring chaser. He can still score.

"Why the Celtics and Warriors?
Boston Celtics: The Celtics are a young team, but veterans matter in the playoffs (as seen by what Al Horford has been able to do), and Anthony would be the perfect player to come off the bench in a reserve role. His shooting on the perimeter (37.5% from the three-point range) would be huge for the Celtics when one of Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum is off the floor. In addition, when they would be playing with Anthony, he could help space the floor for the two star forwards. Anthony has never made the Finals, and the Celtics are in the Finals right now, so it would also be a team that would make sense for the future first ballot Hall of Famer.

Golden State Warriors: The Warriors seem to always find the way to bring the best out of players (Andrew Wiggins for reference), and Anthony at 38-years-old could turn into a three-point specialist for them off the bench. They are also in the Finals for the sixth time in eight years, and it would help give Anthony a chance to make his first ever NBA Finals. The Warriors have previously added veterans such as David West, Shaun Livingston and DeMarcus Cousins to the roster over the years, and Anthony could be an even better version of what they were able to bring."

I;m down with that, apparently he's gotten better at D with age some how, not that was a high bar to raise, but he's a legit scoring option in short stints, give the Jays a rest during the regular season.

Unless we are using one of our TPE's on a wing, we're not getting a perfect fit, but one that can help. I'd rather use a TPE on a big(please Carter Jr become available) That cold be Al's replacement.

DA is selling everything but Mitchel right now from rumors, Rudy Gay could be an option, Lillard apparently isn't happy again, Winslow would be decent, not a great scorer, but solid Defender.

So there are options, not amazing, but you don't need amazing you just need solid and decent.

Solid and decent and can hit an open jump shot.

I'd be down. He can also help mentor the young kids in shooting/offense.

Heck maybe he can somehow turn back the clock and produce 2016 Melo.  8)

The problem is that he can't play SF any more, and hasn't in at least five seasons.  He'd basically be duplicative of Gallo, I think.

I could have seen Melo as an option on a vet min before we signed Gallo. Having both of them doesn't make much sense to me.

Which is fine if that’s the role he’s willing to accept, being the 11th man and not playing a lot of nights, but being a vet who comes in ready to go sometimes.  That probably isn’t what he’s after, but if he’s up for it we could do a lot worse with that spot on the roster.

No way . A reporter will ask him if he thinks he shoukd have been in there and he’ll answer some kind of form of “yes.”  Then dealing with that drama.

I want no part of that dude mentoring any Celtic. Mentor some rival.

Out of the box idea for a bench player

The Celtics did not lose in this year's Finals because of their defense. They allowed only 104 PPG to Golden State. If they had played better offensively or at a minimum had a professional scorer coming off the bench in that series, the C's could easily won that series.

Well there is still a professional scorer out there that is old but still an above average in efficiency scorer that could give you that offensive spark at times. Dude definitely would love to get a ring. He is available as a vet min guy.

How about ..... Carmelo Anthony.

Yeah, I know, I am far, far, far from a fan of Melo. But the dude has been a great three point shooter the last three years and can still go microwave and put up a bunch of points really fast.

Just a great tool to have on the bench, if he doesn't become toxic and kill chemistry by not knowing his role.

I'm in full agreement with that. I even had a Carmelo thread on here somewhere. He'd be perfect to go out and score when our offense sputters.
