The rumor is that we’re interested in Thomas Bryant, but so are the Raptors and Lakers.  If we miss out, who do you want?

Whiteside
Ibaka
Cousins
Biyombo
Howard
Dieng
Kaminsky
Bryant

Seems like a big drop off after Bryant.

Not a FA but any chance that maybe they try trading for Jakob Poeltl from SAS with one of the TPEs?

The center depth concerns me. Williams is oft injured and Horford is 36. From FAs, I like Bryant because there is upside there since he is still young.

(1) Biyombo
(2) Dieng

(3) Dwight

(4) Thomas Bryant -- doesn't play defense. Doesn't play winning basketball. Has some talent but no idea how to use it effectively in order to help his team win.

Ibaka is broken down. Not worth signing. Time to retire. Ditto for Cousins.

I don't think Whiteside will be a good member of the locker room if he is not playing regularly. Not a good option as a 3rd string center. Too much of a malcontent.

I'd pass on a center. Just start Brogdon bring Al off the bench as the backup center. Also want to use Gallo as a stretch 5 because he lacks quickness to keep up with modern 4s on defense let alone do switching. Gallo needs to be in drop coverage. He does still have some advantages vs 5s on offense so he makes more sense playing minutes there.

Brogdon/PP
Smart/ White
Brown/
Hauser?
Tatum/GW
TL/Al/Gallo

Bold is top 9 rotation

Biyombo was really good for the Suns last year.  I’d be happy to have him, but I imagine he returns to Phoenix.

After Bryant I'd take a shot on Cousins. See what he has left on a good team that would hold him accountable. You could start him next to Williams cause of his out side shooting.

Best chance us TPE trade. Orlando has 4 or 5 centers, just signed Bol Bol.  Carter Jr for Ale replacement or No Wangner for Robs backup.

DeAndre Jordan and Robin Lopez would be on my list too
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

They both signed with teams already. DeAndre went to Denver. I forget where Robin Lopez went.

Edit: Cleveland. Robin Lopez went to CLE.

I'd like Kaminsky as a 3rd string C if we can't get a defender / rebounder type.

I'd prefer the defender / rebounder type because Gallo can fill in as 3rd string C against low quality opponents but I'd like to have that extra defender / rebounder for when Rob misses games and for big opponents like Embiid and so.

But yeah, I prefer Kaminsky over the rotting corpses of Ibaka & Cousins or malcontents like Whiteside.

Biyombo played very well last year, so I doubt we could get him on a minimum contract.

I’m going to throw a name out of left field, old friend Aaron Baynes. 😁 Last I heard he was making great progress towards a comeback from his bad injury, and taking last season off. At 35 I wonder if he has anything left in the tank. Always liked him. I would take a flyer on him.

I’d go with Whiteside. Rebounding and shot blocking. Good sub for Rob.

Dwight

Still plays competitive BB. Rebounds, defends, strong finisher.
