Milwaukee Bucks F Bobby Portis has informed the team that he’ll decline his $4.6M option and become a free agent, his agent Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN.

I would be shocked if the Bucks didn't offer him a much bigger deal with his Early Bird rights.  I thought it was clear last summer why he signed the bargain deal he did with them for this past season.

Yeah, I'm guessing that's going to be the case.

There is no way he’s coming to Boston for the MLE. Bucks aren’t doing a sign and trade to the Celtics either.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Eh. He was pretty underwhelming in the Celtics series. 39% from the field, 23% from 3. He did rebound the ball, but he didn’t pass it at all in their scheme and I don’t think he’s ever been known as a playmaker.

If you include all his playoff stats from 2021-22 he’s better, but not exciting. 44% from the field, 32% from 3.

A) I'd love him.
B) This has been the supposed plan for Portis to re-sign with the Bucks for more money.
C) We don't want any sign-and-trades because of the hard cap
D) But you're right and I can't imagine any EC playoff/play-in team or the Lakers or GSW will trade with us or help us via the TPE. IOW about half the teams in the NBA.

Portis would be an upgrade over Grant at the 4 and a huge upgrade over Luke Kornett.  Grant could still play 3 for you

I can't wait to read how we almost offered him something.

Portis would be an upgrade over Theis.
