I love Gordon Hayward.

Fiddled with a pretty advanced option that could work:

Boston: Hayward, Crowder
Hornets: Westbrook, Ayton, Craig
Suns: Horford, Plumlee, 2 Hornets 1sts
Lakers: Saric, Shamet, Oubre, Rozier

I hate trading skilled size like Horford. Come playoff time, a player like him matters a lot. But this feels like we'd be doing him right. He'd be able to contend in the West on the Suns. This gives the Suns the chance to contend next year with two solid veterans, but it also gives Sarver future cap flexibility because they are expiring.

Lakers and Hornets both say yes to this. I also think the Celtics get better here, even if I would rather get back a real PF for the playoffs instead of Crowder. Still, I think you could look at options throughout the season and combine Crowder with Theis, Nesmith, and Pritchard to get a pretty interesting option (Jerami Grant? Isaac?)

Leaves the Cs with:

PG: Smart, White
SG: Brown, Hayward
SF: Tatum, Crowder
PF: GWilliams
C: RWilliams, Theis

I don't see us giving up Horford for him since Horford is better on and off the court for us and even though he's old, doesn't seem to get hurt.  Without giving up Horford, I don't see how we can match salaries

Don't see the Westbrook for Hayward trade in the cards
Charlotte wants to duck the luxury tax enough to sign Bridges to a max/near max.

I can see Dallas getting into the mix for Gordon with something based around THJ. And of course Indy with Turner.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

IDK, the last season in Boston, he was a 17.5PPG, 4.1APG, 6.7 RPG guy which he parlayed into a decent contract.  The issue at the time, he didn't want to be a 3rd or 4th option on a team.  But yeah, can't hurt to take a looksie....

I'm changing what I did above to something that makes more sense for the Suns:

Celtics: Hayward, Crowder
Hornets: Westbrook, Ayton
Suns: Rozier, Horford
Lakers: Saric, Oubre, Craig, Shamet

Windhorst reports that the Hornets trying to dump his salary with a 1st round pick so they have cap room to re-sign bridges.

He’d fit well here obviously but we’d probably have to include Horford to get salary to match.

Any creative ideas? I think Brad would at least take a look.

HECK NO!

Hayward is on the books for $30M+ for two more seasons.  That is way too much to pay for a bench wing.  If he is bought out and something worked out at a reasonable number,/contract, maybe, he would be fine (great actually) as the veteran scoring wing off the bench with managed minutes.

But I don't see it.  They will find a way to trade him with his current contract.  Highly unlikely they end up buying him out of 2 years of contract.

Why? So that he can get hurt again before the postseason.

Okay I know it's unfair to say since some of these have been flukey, terrible injuries and sometimes at bad times. But even with the Hornets he missed like half their games in the two seasons with them including last season's play-in game. He's just not reliable and not durable anymore

The trade I been thing about would have to be agreed now and executed in the new season
It's

Theis, G Will, Nesmith, Pritchard, Morgan, Fitts and Hauser

For

Hayward, Oubre, pick 13.

It works if you use the exception to absorb Oubre and the pick, and if the minimum contracts Celtics are sending become guaranteed

Variations include swapping Plumlee for Oubre and adding say, the 15th pick and/or swapping Stuaskas for Pritchard
