I recently started a new job with a whole lot of downtime, and am looking to delve into some great literature, rather than just constantly looking at my phone. What are some books that you think are must reads? Recommendations greatly appreciated!!

I prefer fiction, but open to non fiction as well.

Spent a lot time at libraries at home and abroad with my kids. I have an affinity for young adult fantasy/fiction. This is a really creative and original book.Action, adventure, world building and mystery. Absolutely love it!

Im way more visual. I bet I have t read a book not gs big to do with boring work in 15 yrs.  My faves are always about grief and tragedy cuz that’s just my experience ha I v years of my life taken. I don’t believe in hope at end of tunnel REALLY. It’s always terrible and people that avoided complete horror are very likely because it’s all random and things do NOT happen for a reason.
Everyone that experiences  true horror know they’re not special and almost the prayers in the world will not save you from torture.

Dude!
Love reading lately. At work even better!!

1. The library at mount char. Awesome. Mind blowing. And fun.
2. Oryx and Crake - whole trilogy is good but this is the best one I think
3. I am Pilgrim
4. The chestnut man
5. The wasp factory.  A bit much. But crazy. And crazy good.

Hope this helps!
Looking forward to checking this thread for some new reads

Also should mention the Harry Potter books are among the best I’ve ever read. And the Passage trilogy by John Cronin.

😁

I've been reading a lot of LitRPG lately, so if any of you are into that check this one out if you like action and humor:

Dungeon Crawler Carl

And cons, The Chestnut Man have anything to do with the Netflix series?

Because we live in time of Covid (you’ll see the true meaning of a “pandemic”) a good read would be “The Stand” by Stephen King. If you have time get the original 900 page book instead of the neutered version.
I wish there was a production company and director that would make a trilogy out of the book. Two sucky movies have been made based on the book. Opportunity missed I say.
