Wild scene:

Quote
Michigan men's basketball coach Juwan Howard took a swipe at Wisconsin assistant Joe Krabbenhoft's face in the postgame handshake line between the two teams, setting off a brawl involving coaches and players from both sides.

Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard stopped Howard in the handshake line, leading to the two men exchanging words before being surrounded by a few players and coaches. Howard put his finger in Gard's face and grabbed his sweater before Krabbenhoft came over in the middle of the scrum. Howard then reached out and struck Krabbenhoft's face.

Quote
"I didn't like the timeout they called, and I'm being totally honest with you," Howard said. "I thought it was not necessary at that moment, especially with it being a large lead. ... I thought that wasn't fair to our guys. And so that's what happened."

The Badgers were up 15 when Gard took a timeout with 15 seconds left.

"Apparently he didn't like that I called the timeout to reset the 10-second call. Because we only had four seconds to get the ball over half court," Gard told CBS. "I didn't want to put my backups -- I had all my bench guys in the game -- I didn't want to put them in that position of scrambling with only four seconds. So I took a timeout and got us a new 10 seconds and it helped them get organized and get the ball in. And he did not like that when he came through the handshake line. I'll leave it at that and the tape will show the rest."

I like the fire, even if it's a bad look.  Howard will be coaching in the NBA someday soon.

Kinda dig it. Stick up for your guys. The opposing coach was quite obviously being antagonistic, too.

I disagree that this is in any way praiseworthy.  It’s a childish reaction from the person who is supposed to be the primary adult on the team.  A player who did this should get suspended, and so should the coach.

He should be suspended, but I bet it makes his players bond with him even more.

Get over yourself Juwan.  It’s part of the game.  Maybe he’s salty because they actually had a timeout to use :-X

They did support him according to ESPN:
Quote
Both teams began pushing and shoving, with Michigan forwards Moussa Diabate and Terrance Williams appearing to throw punches.

Michigan was ranked #6 in the preseason AP and coaches polls and is likely not making the tourney. He'll make a good coach for the Knicks.

Is that part of the game? Because I have do not think I have ever seen a professional coach call a timeout up double digits with less than 30 seconds to go.

Yes.  The coach stated they had 4 seconds to get the ball across with his bench players in.  He called a timeout to reset it to 10 seconds.  I don’t get why people( not you) get their feelings hurt and throw around sportsmanship when they’re losing.  Did anyone intentionally not dunk the ball or go for 3 when they were downby 2 for sportsmanship sake?  It’s a game.  If you’re that thin skinned maybe find another sport to coach.  Wisconsins coach was actually coaching.  Something g Juwan Howard shoulda done and maybe his team wouldn’t have been in that situation.

Not really sure that should be classified as a punch as his hand was open. He did slap at him, though.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Colleges right now hate this stuff. Howard is looking at a lengthy suspension is my guess. But it'll be the Big 10 that's the does it because if Michigan did it there would be too much heat.
