Another idea is to finally become both the Boston Celtics and St. Louis Celtics on January 15, ensuring we keep JT for the rest of the decade by keeping him paired long-term with his two favorite basketball players in Beal and Timelord:

BOS In: Beal, Avdija, Kispert, Hachimura
WAS In: JB, Brogdon, Gallo

Basically JB for Beal, and then Brogdon/Gallo for three young, cost-controlled prospects (Avdija and Hachimura were both 9th overall in 2020 and 2019 respectively; Kispert was 15th in 2021)

Given the addition of those three prospects, I’d try to trade Grant Williams, Pritchard and one of our 2023 second-round picks for Jordan Clarkson, effectively replacing Brogdon’s contributions with the 2021 6MOTY.

New roster:

Smart/D-White
Beal/Clarkson
JT/Avdija or Kispert
Horford/Hachimura or Kispert
Timelord/Kornet or Griffin

In the off-season, match the best offer for Hachimura and extend Clarkson. Use our remaining 2023 second-round pick on the best available 5/4. Use the MLE on the best available 5/4.

We're losing the best player and not getting even close to fair value in each of those trade proposals.  They're both laughably bad.  If you're going to trade away a star player while you're in winning mode then you need a player of equal or greater value in return, otherwise you are losing that trade.  It's not difficult.  But you seem hellbent on getting three quarters in exchange for a dollar.  And no, Beal is not equal to Brown.

OK. JKJB through the end of this season. But win or lose the title, I want this move in the off-season:

BOS In: KD
BOS Out: JB, Brogdon

Brooklyn possibly does it if Kyrie and JB both commit to Brooklyn long-term. It may take picks if there’s a better deal out there for KD.

Hopefully Horford can start lobbying KD to demand a trade to Boston. It would be amazing to see Horford and KD end their careers as Celtics champions.

Smart
D-White
JT
KD
Timelord

Depth: Horford, G. Williams, Gallinari, Ring-chasing buddy of KD/Horford (guard), Pritchard, Hauser, Kornet, Davison, (2) 2023 2nd round picks

The only trade I would have made for JB is the draft rights to Paolo Banchero.

The Celtics wouldn’t have done it because it sets their timeline back a year or two and you can’t waste Tatum’s years in Boston. After seeing Banchero play in the NBA it might not have been a step back at all.

Orlando doesn’t do it because even though adding JB gets them to the playoffs sooner, he’s not a generational talent like Paolo is looking to be. They can afford to wait while the Celtics can’t.

OK. JKJB through the end of this season period. But win or lose the title, I want this move in the off-season:  Resign JB to his max deal to keep him here to build a winning legacy with Tatum.  End of nonsense trade drivel
fixed it for you

Must be a losing streak.  The trade JB people are back out.

The only deal you make at this point is adding a 3rd star to JB and JT if someone becomes available that makes you better.  Other then that this team is legit and is going through their 1st expected slump.  It's a long season.

Only you would think we would need to add Brogdon to get someone to trade for JB.

An opportunity to send JB to his hometown and bring in a dynamic superstar in return:

BOS In: Trae Young, John Collins, Jalen Johnson
ATL In: JB, Brogdon, Gallo

Young/D-White
Smart/D-White
JT/G. Williams
Collins/Horford
Timelord/Horford

Bench: Jalen Johnson, Hauser, Pritchard, Kornet, Griffin, Vonleh

I’ve looked more closely at Trae Young recently, and above is probably the worst idea in this thread (and that’s saying something).

I am at the point where we JKJB the rest of the year and see what happens. Come the off-season, perhaps we can move him and Brogdon for Kawhi or KD. As you all know, my dream is that Kawhi returns to 2019 form and demands to be traded to a team that can give him multiple rings so he can finish his career with 5-6 rings and cement his place in NBA history as a legendary top ten player. I still hold out hope of it happening.

Kawhi of 2019 is definitely worth JB and Brogdon, but I’d also try to poach Kennard in the deal by including Gallo and one of our 2023 2nds. Bring the Pacers into the deal for my secondary dream of adding TJ McConnell as our backup PG (love his D, hustle and facilitation skills, all of which would wear down a team psychologically considering they’ve got to deal with Smart/McConnell at point for 48 minutes):

BOS In: Kawhi, Kennard, McConnell
BOS Out: JB, Brogdon, Gallo, Pritchard, (1) 2023 2nd, 2029 2nd

IND In: Pritchard, 2029 BOS 2nd
IND Out: McConnell

LAC In: JB, Brogdon, Gallo, (1) BOS 2023 2nd
LAC Out: Kawhi, Kennard

Match the best offer for Grant Williams, draft and bring on someone with our 2023 second, sign Davison for 2023-2024, and sign a ring-chasing vet:

Smart/McC
D-White/Cool Hand Luke
Klaw/Batman
JT/Big Al
Timelord/Big Al

Bench: Hauser, Kornet, Davison, (1) 2023 2nd, a ring-chasing vet, 15th slot kept open for a potential buyout candidate in 2024
