Yes, he’s got serious issues, but he may be available for very cheap in a few months. For example, let’s say he sits out and becomes available at the deadline for one of these packages:

Package 1:
Horford - To Nets
Schröder - To Nets
Protected Picks - To Nets

Package 2:
Richardson - To Nets
Schröder - To Nets
Fernando - Third team as filler
Juancho - Third team as filler
Grant Williams - Fourth team as filler
Protected picks - To Nets

Stipulation: Kyrie has to agree to sign the long-term extension and obviously be JB and Tatum’s brother/mentor. He blames his prior departure entirely on Ainge, spilling the beans on everything, and says he’s happy to be back and ready to perform under Udoka’s leadership. Can you imagine the drama and ratings from the return of Kyrie?

If all three can jive, we’d have the Big 3 we dreamed of 2-3 years ago. Package two would be the preference given it enables us to retain Horford’s leadership.

How do we say no? Ten-deep if Nesmith/Langford keep it up, with a Big 3 for a serious title run, and we can bring in more depth via our TPEs:

Kyrie/Pritchard/Sign IT
Smart/Langford/TPE
Brown/Nesmith/TPE
Tatum/Parker
Horford/Timelord/Kanter

Not just no but HELL NO. Cryrie has damaged 3 teams - I have no wish for us to be the 4th, especially since we were one of the first three to begin with. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Also I doubt he would be available for either of those packages you outlined. Cryrie isn't being traded for anything but another All Star.

What?

How can any self respecting Celtic fan want Kyrie back here to "mentor" the Jays after the disastrous 2019 season and all the crap Kyrie has pulled in Brooklyn?

Might as well just add JB to the trade to make it the absolute worst trade idea ever on this blog!

There have been all star talents that I've had little to no interest in before. I'm not sure there's one until now that I've had literally zero, potentially negative valuation for. Like if someone forced Kyrie on this team and said the only way you can get out of taking him is to give up Romeo for nothing, would you do that? I think I might.

This suggestion should be a banable offense, and I'm only partly kidding.

This guy quit on his team in the Milwaukee series. He surrounded himself with better players (Harden and Durant), which allows him to disappear again when it matters.

I like the talent, but don't love his lack of heart.

I would rather trade for Slender Man than Kyrie Irving.

With all due respect to the OP, I don't know why anyone wants Kyrie back. He's a death knell for any team.

Kyrie has amazing skills.  Early on in Cleveland, he was one of my favorite players.

But, I hated the Kyrie trade, and the hatred has grown from there.  He’s all about himself, screwing his teammates in the process over and over.

This is one of the more excellent drive-by troll threads I've ever seen. Propose something nobody would ever contemplate, and then don't return to the thread when it gets (rightfully) flamed

It’s not a troll job. We all recognize it is completely off the wall, but think about it:

If Kyrie is betrayed by his supposed BFF KD and sidekick Harden (and Harden is clearly PO’d at Kyrie), who would have to sign off on any trade, we can totally see Kyrie being on a mission wherever he lands next.

He can easily blame his departure on Ainge and say that we’re all good now—he can state he’s never had an issue with Stevens, Tatum, Brown and Smart, and he’s excited to be coached by Udoka.

It’s possibly our only way to score a Big 3 this season, and Kyrie is a truly amazing talent when he’s motivated, focused and not distracting folks.

Furthermore, he’s super popular with players around the league, so rebuilding this allegiance could be huge for our long-term rep, including the rep of GM BS who is clearly not Danny. Bring back IT at the same time and we truly rebuild our rep with the players.

All in all, firmly believe if package one or two gets the job done, we should go for it. To heck with the past. We need a third star to get past the Nets and Bucks, and if it’s Kyrie after all, well, so be it!
