Box Plus/Minus by position - Centers (career high in a single season)
1. Nikola Jokic 9.1
2. Arvydas Sabonis 6.7
3. Nikola Vucevic 6.6
4. Rudy Gobert 5.4
5. Marc Gasol 5.2
6. Ben Wallace 4.5
6. Moses Malone 4.5
8. Artis Gilmore 4.3
8. Bobi 4.3

Just further proof that these metrics are often garbage.
In any case, Bobi has a massive impact on games whenever he's on the court. Problem is, he can't run up and down the court for a long time.

Was between him and Tacko tbh. :P Tacko is unplayable. I wanted to pick him just for fun. Bobi is a nice option to have for limited minutes off the bench.
Wasn't there a 4 time DPOY at center on the board? If you wanted super big, the guy was 7'4"
not 4-time, but 2-time.  The only 4 time winners are Wallace and Mutombo and Howard is the only 3 time winner (it has only existed since 83 or obviously guys like Bill would have had a lot).
I stand corrected. Don't know why I thought it was 4.

I was going to take the guy as my last big but noticed I was lacking a frontcourt guy that could consistently drain a three. Boozer and Mason could hit from 20' at a high rate so could create space for my slashers but no one from 3. So I took Murphy.

Gouki had the same idea about Eaton. Imo, he wouldn't even see the court in the modern era, cause he'd get killed in switches. Not that Bobi can switch ball screens on D, but at least he's way better than Eaton on the offensive side of the ball. More importantly though, he's a fun pick! All I wanted was to draft a fun guy. 8) 15th rounders won't be part of the rotation anyway.

Also just a bit of clarification re my Charlie Scott pick. I view his 71-72 season where he averaged 33/5/5 as ineligible due to it being mostly played in the ABA. Not going to try and be sneaky with that ;)

Can someone please post the rosters in the OP? It would be helpful to have them all posted in the same page. (especially for non-participants who might want to vote)

I’ll post them in the OP of the “How’s my team look?” thread, the OP of this is a bit cluttered with the 15 rounds of picks there ;D

If I’d gotten a top-3 pick, I would have tried really hard to pair Moses and Karl Malone.  Figure it would have cost me my 2nd, 3rd and 5th for a 1st, 9th and 13th.

Drafting where I discussed players with others / would have drafted them:

1. Moses Malone
1. Karl Malone
4.  Kyle Lowry
6.  Jrue Holiday
7.  Hal Greer
8.  Hedo Turkuglu
9.  Allen Houston
9.  Josh Howard
10.  David West
11. Cedric Maxwell
12.  Bill Sharman
13. Troy Murphy
13.  Charlie Scott
14. Paul Silas
15. Hot Rod Williams

Moses / Murphy / Williams
Karl Malone / West / Silas
Howard / Turkuglu / Max
Houston / Greer / Scott
Lowry / Holiday / Sharman

It’s a great team, but I suspect it was possible to build a better team without making a trade.  I was a bit surprised by that, because I thought there were maybe ten guys who stood out above all others.

The Malone combo + good point guards + good spacing = instantly winning this draft, no question. Not sure anyone would have traded out of the top 5 though, especially in a top heavy draft like this one.

Here's one of my backup plans in case I had drafted Nash.

PG: Nash (#8)
SG: Klay (#13)
SF: Middleton (#33)
PF: Kirilenko (#28)
C: Bam (#48)

Nash-Klay-Middleton would have been a poor man's version of Steph-Klay-KD! Imo, Kirilenko is better than Draymond. Bam is hands down better than Bogut/Zaza. Basically, the plan was to build my own version of the Warriors! 8)

All these guys would have been available with my picks. At the time, I didn't expect Bam to be available at #48 and I was kinda worried that Kirilenko and Middleton wouldn't have been available with my picks either.

Just for fun here are some of the players that were not drafted

PG's - Nick Van Exel, Archie Clark, Darrell Armstrong, Lou Williams, Doc Rivers
SG's - Joe Caldwell, Eddie Johnson, Nate McMillan
SF's - Bojan Bogdanovic, Jerome Kersey, Rick Fox, James Posey
PF's - Bill Bridges, Nikola Mirotic, PJ Brown, Jayson Williams, Loy Vaught
C's - Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Nikola Pekovic, Hassan Whiteside, Dale Davis, Jamaal Magloire

I'm sure I missed a few, but in other words, I think we overall did a pretty darn good job drafting as there isn't a whole lot of talent left on the board.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I listed a couple of my favorites above.  Historically, Bill Sharman has got to be the best undrafted player.  7x All NBA.

A couple of other centers: Hot Rod Williams, Kevin Duckworth

Joe Caldwell? Oh wow. I even thought of him prior to the draft & meant to double check his draft slot. Agh but I forgot. Darn it. I would've drafted him.

I didn't have Bill Sharman on my list. I blew that one.

I was touch and go whether to go with Batum or Kersey for my last pick.

Archie Clark was my choice for best undrafted player until I saw Bill Sharman and Joe Caldwell. I'll bump him to #3.
