If Ime could've just put Timelord in, that might have helped the situation A LOT and probably flipped the outcome. Timelord was already on the sideline ready to go in.

But what gives. What was Smart still doing in the game. Grant was also a no-show. TL went back to his seat. Yikes. Atrocious.

grant was atrocious but in fairness to him, ime isn’t setting him up to succeed. he excels on offense as the spot-up shooter in the corner or top of the key. not sure why ime has him out of position in this series. the lack of ball movement by marcus and jt is part of the problem and ime refuses to correct this issue, even though it’s stifling the offense.

on defense, grant is being abused by the refs and ime isn’t defending him. grant’s role is to bang with the heat’s “bigs” and match their physicality in the paint. he does this well but the refs are targeting grant’s physicality and ignoring the same from the heat. chalk it up to spolstra doing his job working the refs and ime hanging grant out. grant isn’t a finesse player and if spolstra has successfully convinced the refs that he’s a dirty player, grant is neutralized.

Just to let you know, it could be worse. Not only did I pay to go to the game tonight but I am also taking the T home. For the past half hour, we have been stuck between Haymarket and Government Center. The train is packed, they turned the A/C off 20 minutes ago and it is so hot that some of the drunk guys are taking their shirts off.

It is a dark day indeed

No kidding. Now, had it been drunk women…

Sadly, no T, no Ubers, finally found a cab and will be home by 1 am.

It’s only up from here, folks. Huge win coming on Sunday.

I tell you--this is the Doc Rivers Jinx...after we won in 2008, he put up a Blank Championship Banner in the practice facility, just asking for bad luck--Idiot....we haven't won crap ever since.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I got stuck in Boston after a concert one night. Trains and buses had stopped.

I live about 90 minutes away. Had to hire a random driver from North Station to bring us back to Maine.

But at least that concert was fun lol.

My sympathies man.

Turns out Al's grandfather died the morning of this game. He certainly looked out of it mentally, and that's most likely why. Ugh...

Back from the game. A couple of quick takes - to have a great game, you need referees who don't get in the way - and these 3 clowns tonight were an embarassment to the league. A competent crew may not have changed the result, but these guys just killed any flow the game had and frankly wrecked it.

Too many whistles, too many wrong calls, too many makeup calls. They wouldn't allow Grant Williams to partcipate in the game. I have no idea what consititutes an illegal pick vs a proper pick. Also no idea what you can do with your off hand when you drive vs not do. Sometimes they called fouls - other times they did not - for the same action with the off hand.

That said, Jimmy Butler put on a show. He was immense and Lowry also came back from the dead. The Heat showed up and played like a #1 seed.  But even with that going on this was still a winnable game. Jalen's missed FT's down the stretch hurt.  But Smart and Al both had bad games. And they couldn't make the Heat pay for going small for a large part of the game.

I actually expected Miami to win tonight - if Butler was up to it - and he certainly was. But I still like the C's chances in Miami. Home court - especially there - means next to nothing at this point. I think the Celtics relaxed a bit tonight figuring the crowd would carry them. You could tell Ime was ticked with their defense in the first half.

Best moment of the night was watching Wyc get in the face of one of the ref's over by the sidelines lol. As Belichick says, on to Game 7. For this team, I think it's actually better that it's on the road.

Wow, in a close game like this, officiating absolutely matters. That’s a lot of calls going against the C’s, particularly down the stretch. Hard to win the ball game when you can’t get the ball. Weak offensive foul call vs Tatum, weak defensive fouls vs White, Butler stepping on Horford’s foot and throwing the ball out of bounds… just bad missed calls

Granted, Heat made a lot of tough shots to keep the lead but they got some help too from the zebras.

Ime has been good 90% of the time, tonight he was garbage.

You had to beat the refs tonight as well as coach a good game.

This was a must win, and they allow themselves to get punked on their HC. All the talent but the brains are smooth.
Still don't believe in Joe.

Going 3-4 at home in the last two series is hugely disappointing. Spo really has outcoached Ime. And the Heat are baiting Smart to volume shoot. There are multiple reasons the Celtics lost last night. The biggest factor, though, was Lowry completely outplaying Smart. A key stat : Lowry 10 assists and Smart 3 assists. Smart is a streaky shooter. But he's never been a reliable shooter. His game 7 in 2018 and his elimination game 6 in 2020 stats are horrific : combined FG% was 28% and 3 pt.% was 23%. He had 2 assists in the closeout game 6 in 2020. Smart needs to get Rob and Al much more involved in the offense. This in turn will get the J's more open shots. In the first half last night, Al and Rob had a total of 3 shot attempts. Also, Smart's D last night was quite pedestrian, especially for DPOY. As an aside, it was outrageous what Lowry did to Al from the sidelines., after he fouled out. It shows what kind of dirty player he is.

I don’t even care anymore.  I believe we can win but I’m so sick and tired of watching blatantly biased officiating in the nba and basketball in general.  When you have announcers making up stuff to keep spinning the narrative it’s plain as day.  Warriors have already won the championship so onto next year.  Maybe if we land lebron, the nba can create a nice comeback story and position us to win it all. ::)

Jimmy Butler 46 minutes played 47pts 9reb 8ast 4stl 16-29 FGs 11-11 FTs

What a legend.

Now that is how to show out in an elimination game.

Smart has to get better at understanding “the pace” of the game. Especially the last few minutes
