Elite XC is once again airing fights on CBS Saturday with a 1 hour lead in on Showtime.  CBS has made a lot of changes since the last show so this one should run better.  They will cut out a lot of the showmanship and just stick to the fights.

The UFC is of course offering counterprogramming by re-playing UFC 84 on Spike TV at 9 pm.  UFC 84 had a main event of Penn vs. Sherk and also had the key LHW mathcups of Ortiz vs. Machida and Wanderlei vs. Jardine.  Overall it was a very entertaining fight card and I'll be flipping over during the CBS commercials and then at 11 to re-watch the main event.

Elite XC fight card

CBS beginning at 9 pm
Champ Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith (for EliteXC middleweight title)
Jake Shields vs. Nick Thompson (for vacant EliteXC welterweight title)
Thomas Denny vs. Nick Diaz
Shayna Baszler vs. Cristiane Cyborg
David Douglas and Marlon Mathias (swing bout)

SHOWTIME from 8 - 9 pm
Justin Eilers vs. Antonio Silva (for vacant EliteXC heavyweight title)
Brian Caraway vs. Wilson Reis
Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante vs. Travis Galbraith

PRELIMINARY CARD
Jeremy Freitag vs. Anthony Ruiz
Mike Cook vs. Carl Seumanutafa
Drew Montgomery vs. Brandon Tarn
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
I might check CBS for the Lawler fight and to see if they've improved their telecast since the Kimbo debacle.  Otherwise I'll probably just go out instead...EliteXC doesn't excite me all that much.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

much cleaner presentation by CBS this time.  They would have had time issues had the fights lasted longer, but overall a much better effort this go around.  They need to get rid of Mauro though, that guy is just awful.

I missed the broadcast tonight, but I agree, I really hate Mauro's voice, he sounds like the text book Connecticut School of Broadcasting voice.
