Gotta enjoy the ride.  Championship contender Patriots playing tonight.  Championship contender Celtics tomorrow night.  Bruins too.  Championship parade on Friday.  Fun week!

What's the benchmark for comparison?

First season that comes to mind for me is 1986. That calendar year saw one title (Celtics), appearances in the World Series and Superbowl, playoffs for the Bruins (tho an early exit).

If we start the clock today, what can happen within a year? Hoping for a second title at least...
Can't think of one calendar year better than '86.

I could certainly see a second title. The Pats, especially if they move a pick for Demaryius Thomas, will be absolutely unstoppable on offence. With Gordon, Edelman, Gronk, Michel, White, Thomas, Hogan, Dorsett, Patterson and Allen all getting into a groove with Brady, I think that offence is borderline unstoppable. The defence seems to be coming together too, after a shaky start.

The Celtics, if we stay healthy and continue this upward trend, should IMO make the Finals, and have the ability to push whoever comes out of the West.

No clue about the NHL though

'04 was pretty good with Pats and Red Sox championships. Bruins won their division that year (with an early exit in the playoffs) and Cs barely made the playoffs (and were swept).

'86 was always considered the benchmark, but the two championships while the other two teams made the playoffs have to be right up there.

Marriage and perhaps the best basketball team of all time in the same year? TP worthy indeed!

How many cities would kill for their worst sports team to only be in the 2nd round of the playoffs?

I do agree that the season has been a total letdown for the Cs, though.

A Boston sports slam is no longer possible, but a Boston Triple Crown still is if the Bruins go on to win it all  ;D
