Mannix yesterday stated he thought the deal would be done by Sunday. This is the first logical step.

What’s this mean for our cap room as far as sign a max free agent or a d’ Angelo russel?

  • "He fiddles...and diddles..."
Means he either signs a new contract up to the $37.5M max salary
Or goes somewhere else
If so, it's fair to say that the off-season couldn't be going worse for the Celtics and it's only June 18th.

I'm not they have to resign Barnes or they are paying him 25 million. They also have WCS RFA to navigate.

I don't see a big 30+ million dollar number being in the cards from the Kings for Al.

No...it does not mean that. All reports are Horford likes Boston and now just wants a couple more years secured, so he is willing to help out the team with a lower per year number. As Faf said above, a 3 year $60-75 million deal seems about where they are heading with media speculation having that number in the mid 60's(or about $22 million per)

  • Let's Go Celtics!

It does nothing for our "cap room". Al and Kyrie both still have cap holds until they either sign a new deal here or sign somewhere else.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Eh this isn't bad per say. Just a bit more uncertainty but we already have maxed that out lol.

If he extends with the C's it'd give them room under the tax and allow them to use the MLE potentially.

Or the Celtics renounce their bird rights.

C's max cap room if they let go of everyone (Morris, Rozier, Kyrie, Al, Theis, etc) is 29 million from what I've seen from Bobby Marks and others.

I think we are likely to re-sign him but man, to lose Kyrie and Al in an offseason would truly be turning a page. Stay home Al!

While Horford, a five-time All-Star, will move into the free agent marketplace on June 30, there's motivation with both Horford and the Celtics to work toward an agreement on a new long-term contract, league sources tell ESPN.

Horford could help Boston's salary cap flexibility with a new deal that starts below that $30.1 million salary.

There is motivation is less definitive than I'd like, but also is a Woj like phrasing. I'd prefer "lasered in" or "locked in on".

Just don't sign with the Lakers, Al. That would be horrible.

If Al leaves my guess it will be to a true contender. not the Kings.

I think they'll be pretty focused on adding perimeter players.

They have two forwards Kuzma/LBJ who both are best at the 4 and Anthony Davis. So they need guards and wings who can play the 2/3 defensively.

3 year max would be hard to pass on. $120M + is more than what he has earned in his first 10 years of playing in the nba
