I'm going to throw up a poll in just a second for that. Seem to be some wanting it pre-Labor Day and some wanting it mid-September. I'll let democracy decide ;D

Gotcha. I would prefer pre labor day, as that's when school starts up for me. I'm cool with whatever gets decided though.

So would I. Most of my major assignments start getting due in the latter half of September.

Plus, I just want to get started. I love these games!

It is already late August so what does before labor day mean?  Are you looking to get all 13 rounds completed by the end of next week?

Nick laid out a framework that I liked the look of. Here’s the gist:

Quote
Maybe start next Monday. Get the first 5 rounds in next week, then the week after go Tuesday thru Friday, 2 rounds a day for 13 total rounds?

So if we do this pre-labor day, the first day would be August 30th, correct?

Indeed, and with the voting so far that's the way it's looking. It can only be a tie now if all the remaining GMs vote for mid-September, so I think the 30th of August is essentially finalised as draft day 1

How do we want to deal with injured players that may miss this upcoming season?

It's a tough question. I think it's all up to personal preference. There are quite a few good players with injuries going into this season, sadly.

I think GMs should be allowed to draft injured players, and there are only two guys that I can think of who may miss the entire season.
In one of the previous Historical Drafts I selected Grant Hill from 99-00. That's the year when his ankle issues started to really come into play, but only during the playoffs of that season. I was of the opinion that it didn't really matter, and that we should be looking at his form of the season and transplanting it to now. Some disagreed with me, but that was my philosophy regarding players who got injured during their seasons.

But this is not a Historical Draft. Players who are set to miss time will probably have that held against them by GMs, especially if they're looking at a whole season on the sidelines. I won't value injuries too highly that were recovered from in the season, or were relatively minor, given so many star players got hurt at some stage this season. But I think it will be hard to argue that a team with a player out the whole season (assuming it's a key player) will win.

This injury thing also should maybe be considered for players returning from a long time off due to a bad injury. Who knows how that player will now look like?

It's a slippery slope. You can make a rule to disregard injuries, but that's not going to stop voters from taking injuries into consideration.

My view will be I will take year long injuries into consideration. If a player was off all or most of last year or will be out most or all of next year, I will probably lower my expectations on those teams that want to use such players in important roles.

So I guess now everyone knows who I won't be selecting at #6.

It's definitely a pertinent question with how many dang superstars went down with injuries in the last 12 months.
