I'll go with Paul, he was/is a big time finisher, one of the best all-around players, he stuck with one team, Finals MVP.
Nice thread ghandi :)

The Truth, absolutely ... and I love Ray as much as anyone. But Paul's had to carry much more responsibility than Ray, and has played many more games where the pressure to win was his, and his alone. The Finals MVP award pretty much seals it, and I'd have to say that Pierce is a definite "Superstar", where Ray is just now approaching that status because of his role on this team. Ray is by far the classiest and most humble player in the NBA, and I hate voting on one over the other, but when it comes right down to it, it's got to be The Truth.

The truth, for a simple reason which is not seen on a stat sheet:
Sticking for the C's though thick and thin.
A great career for he had the talent yet he believed in this organization. Not some other jerks who showcase their "talent" so other teams can drool over them, *cough*crabdribbling*cough* and chase them around when they are freeagents. Many people hate him and the wheelchair incident fueled that hate even more. But I'm sticking with him. Ray is great, don't get me wrong, numbers don't lie, but PP's history with the organization: sticking with the drought and bringing banner 17, was great.

Paul Pierce -- he would have have been an MVP candidate if he was on a more talented team during his best years.

Ray Allen was a guy who was a top 15 player for a large portion of his career but never really threatened to become an MVP caliber talent.

Both are excellent players who, in the right circumstances, could have earned a lot more fame.  I think Pierce is slightly better, but they''re pretty close.

Ray....first ten years was not an immature, undisciplined star like Pierce was...and I mean was (still is at times)

Do we know this for a fact, or just assume so because Ray Allen was stuck in Seattle and we only got to see him twice a year?

Allen spent long years toiling virtually on his own for the Sonics. I am sure he's had plenty of games where the pressure to win was his and his alone.

I can't really put this comparison much beyond a wash. Ray has always done his work silently, but Pierce's got nothing on him.

Pierce...

- NBA Finals MVP
- Much better defender
- Bigger overall threat offensively (although Ray's overall offensive game is underrated)

Now if Pierce declines from here for the next couple years, and Ray Allen plays with some Reggie Miller longevity, I'd give the career edge to Allen, but peak value goes to Pierce.

Pierce for his all around game but Ray Allen does one thing better than almost anyone in history. Ray also is an underrated rebounder and defender.

Ray made it to the ECF's to I believe with the Bucks and not the WCF's. But I don't even want to choose lol.  Boy am I glad to have both on our team though lol.

I think if you asked nationwide the answer would be Ray Allen.

Around here, where we've seen Paul his whole career...it's not surprising if Paul was the obvious choice.

Based on statistical production, Pierce has the edge.

Based on efficiency, Ray Allen has the edge.

It's very close.

I would have to go with Ray because he was on more talented teams which hurt his production compared to Pierce who had the benefit of being "a great player on some bad teams."
