If Stevens isn't going to play Williams at least put him in the GL and let him get some run. Why not send Williams down and sign Noah and rotate Theis and Noah as needed. Noah is a don't need the ball player but is a great passer.
I've never liked how Ainge or Stevens value big men...it's that they don't value them.
-
I always liked Noah. Unfortunately it looks like his career may be over.
In any case, both Theis and Baynes could handle more minutes, if needed. I simply don’t see any urgency to acquire a non-rotation big - even if he were in his prime.
-
He should be healthy. The reason he didn't play last year was because of a dispute with Hornacek. I think we need another center who can rebound and defend the rim. He's only 33 and won a defensive player of the year award. I'd like to see them bring him in for a workout. He might be interested in a backup role for a contender. I believe he and Horford were pretty good friends in college.
-
who ???
-
I wouldn't add Noah for talent but he might be valuable the way Alonzo Mourning was for the Heat. Or how Perkins was toward the end.
-
Start Baynes and play Williams.
Move Hayward to the second unit.
-
Noah is cooked.

I'm tempted to break the forum rules, just to get this thread locked.

Why do people here dislike Noah so much? I know he didn't play well a couple years ago, but he was also battling injuries.
He's only 33 and should be healthy and well rested.

I think most feel that he is spent and not able to play anymore at an NBA level. I don't know. If the problem was just injuries and he now can play, great, we could use him. Statistically, you have to go back to 2014 to get to a time when he played at a high (for him) level. It has been a while.

Noah is a dumpster fire.

A chef shouldn't be burning toast. ;)
Seriously, how can people know he's toast when he hasn't played in so long and when he did he was batting injuries?
-
Thibs already ran Noah into the ground, like he did with Deng. He’s toast
-
Doubt Noah ever play in NBA again

I always used to feel sorry for Shelden Williams and late Juwan Howard.

Late Juwan Howard? I just googled him to see if he had passed away (he hasn't). Why bring up these two players?

Guys that were OK, but then hung around the league waaaaaay too long.

Was that Shelden Williams? He only played 5 seasons IIRC

I used to also but Howard wound up with 2 rings and a coaching career.
If we can't get Davis, Gobert, Embiid, or any other All-NBA Big, I think it wise to have a player in a suit - and at practice - that can hold younger players in check. Sort of exactly like what Kyrie said. Someone (doesn't have to be Noah) to help develop Robert Williams. It's too bad we didn't get Tyson Chandler. I'd like it to be someone better than Noah that gives us minutes. But think about who the championship Centers were dating back to 2010. Bynum, Chandler, Splitter, Chris Anderson, Bogut, Thompson, Pachulia, and McGee. We're loaded with wings and guards. Center is thin. If we can't land a Star why not sign an established veteran?
-
LOL Alrighty then, I guess me suggesting taking a look at Noah didn't go over too well.
What's the hesitation to playing Williams? Throw him in there and let him make mistakes now. He's a jumping jack who can grab rebounds and change shots. I don't get it...so what if he fouls out. I think we should go to him before Yabo. Just saying
-
I'd rather pick Big Baby over Noah.

I don't feel sorry for Howard either. He wasn't the same player late in his career, but good enough that teams kept him employed at age 39. The guy played 19 NBA seasons earning $150 million. I wish I had it so rough.

When he was healthy and playing well, I liked his game, he had a special passion. He hasn't been healthy in three years because his body is breaking down. Age doesn't matter. He can't stay healthy any longer.

Good question. Can you trust the judgment of NBA coaches? GM’s?
I myself haven’t seen him even play in an NBA game in a long time, so I’m only going on what teams think of him; and while I have a high opinion of my own scouting prowess (!), NBA teams actually do pretty much know what they’re doing. There doesn’t appear to be any kind of market for him, and the Knicks simply gave up and paid him to go away. New York stretched him after taking a look this October, so they, at least, don’t think that he could even make their roster. So it’s likely, as I said before, that he doesn’t have a lot to offer at this point.
He would have to replace someone else if he signed with the Celtics, so it doesn’t make sense to bring him in for his wisdom and experience, or whatever. Boston has several bigs that can contribute now or have potential, given development; so I put the chances of this happening at zero.

GH is having hard time getting back in rhythm but yeah let's go try find out if Noah after 2 3 years of inactivity has anything left.
There are suggestions to bench GH or even send him to gleague after 10 games but they will show patience to Noah because 5 years ago he was a good player but since then he has played 9 games?

We haven’t had a Larry Sanders thread in a while.

I'm pretty sure Greg Kite is too busy selling real estate to make a comeback.

We haven’t had a Larry Sanders thread in a while.
Or Andrew Bogut, or that former Celticsstrong binkie, the Polish hammer, Marcin Gortat.

The Grizzlies are in talks with free agent big man Joakim Noah to sign the former Knick, league sources say

I feel like this guy could be helpful to our current problems
The flair, the size and the understanding that he's not going to get big minutes.
But it seems Ainge wants the team to work out its problems on its own, which makes sense in the long run
-
has he been any good for grizzlies, seems to be getting consistent minutes..

Maybe he was right and we were wrong. He isn't washed up, but merely NYC was "too lit" for him. Hilarious.
