Pretty good article in the Globe Magaizine.

I'm in a Tuesday Night League at an old alley in Orleans.  Love candlepin!

I was just candlepin bowling last night and my friend and I were talking about Jeff (guy in the article). Jeff and I graduated high school together, so it's cool seeing him get some recognition.

Candlepin is hard, man. Out of six games last night my high score was like 82. I even tried bowling left-handed to knock down those pesky pins.

My buddies and I did a weekly league at Sacco's Bowl Haven in Davis Sq. for a couple years back in the mid 00s.  We used to have a blast.  Candlepin is definitely one of those uniquely New England things. IMO, much more difficult than big ball but really fun.

Sadly, I believe Sacco's finally closed up shop and is no longer in existence.  That place had been a staple in Davis since like the 30s or 40s.  Its really too bad.

I believe they are smaller, but still open. I went with a date a few months ago. Fun date spot.

Really tough game though. Then again, I am crappy at real bowling too.

I like candlepin more than regular bowling. It is unpredictable. If you watch Professional regular bowling on tv all you see is 80% strikes, its not that exciting to watch.

I miss the candlepin challenge show they used to air on CN8/CSN that show was fun. It featured the best candlepin bowlers from New England Including Jeff Surette. And you would see the same audience each week including a guy that looked just like John Candy!

Here is some info
