What I find strange about this story is Dallas hasn't been playing the national anthem before games all year. Why is this a newsworthy story now? For 7 weeks the team played no national anthem, no biggie, no news about it. Now? Why?
I think you'd have to be in the arena to notice.  How many fans has Dallas allowed in their arena?

Edit:  Turns out the Mavs didn't have fans in their arena for their 10 home games.  Monday's game against the TWolves was the 1st game to have fans (1500 essential workers).

I can understand national anthems during international play (Olympics, World Championships, etc).

I never really understood it for regular season games in any sport. It really serves no purpose.
