Ok, this is a simple scenario ... next year, we get Dwight Howard but the big three is broken up.
If you could steal a Celtics body, from yesteryear, and plant him (with your consciousness) today, who would that be?
Here's my pick ... the best guy to have upfront is a '73 version of Dave Cowens at the 4, not as center.
Here's why, the new roster will most likely have Green, Howard, and Cowens on the frontcourt. Rondo will be running the backcourt and they'll be some vacancies for SG and backup PG. Pierce will come off the bench as the primary swing man for either the 2 or 3 spots. Ray Ray and KG are both gone.
As I've stated earlier, Pierce even in his mid-30s, at 20 mins a night, is deadly. Next, the league has mostly PFs these days and the best guy to go toe-to-toe against opposing big guys was Cowens. And finally, he can box out and score at will.
With the above in mind, Dwight can run his game of bump 'n grind plus dunk, or re-direct the ball to Dave for his dunk, or outside to a more open Green for a jumper. Realize, opponents won't be able to guard the perimeter alone with Cowens around, the complete inside-out PF.
