I thought Umbrella Academy ended really well, making you want more, but for much of that 1st season, it was a slog. It took forever for the series to give me a reason to like or get invested in almost every character.

I just got around to watching Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse, and wow, what a great movie. It's definitely my favorite Spiderman movie as of now. Everything was great, from the animation to the writing. It's crazy to think that the same studio who made this movie made the Emoji Movie lol.

JoJo Rabbit.  I've declared it a must-watch movie.  Funny, witty and clever, sad, cute, makes you reflect... you'll be feeling the full range of emotions through this one.

I'd say JoJo Rabbit > Parasite > 1917 and I thought all 3 were strong movies.

The Irishman.

Definitely not a bad movie, great actors and very well made. Just didn't think it was anything incredible.

It occurred to me after watching it that there have been so many Mafia movies that it's pretty much impossible to do anything groundbreaking. I did find it really interesting learning more about Jimmy Hoffa who I didn't know a great deal about.

Also good seeing Joe Pesci in a role other than hot-headed psychopath!

A group of super heroes with very human flaws and morality.

If you have Amazon Prime, it’s definitely worth the watch.

Parasite

I am moderately disappointed, There wasn't a character I cared for in the whole movie.
That is usually a mark of poor films.
And the movie doesn't even try to be a big, which is suggested in its title (big as talking about big things like morals),
just some dark comedy that turns in an untied ending with very confusing character motivations. Great makeup, costume, props, and locations though.

The first international film got the award just for the sake of publicity, as there were many international films 3 spears higher that Parasite in the past.
I also saw:

1917

And I enjoyed the scenery. Magnificent Art design, I was fresh after my detailed WW1 studies in the past months.
Solid film, it also has some character motivation deus ex machina moments (grounded German pilot fighting for his life starts stabbing men that are saving his life. What?), but it has a fair share of creative moments and it also has a nice rhythm as the action and calmer scenes are stirred seamlessly.
"The joy of the balling under the rims."

Watched the original Candyman on Netflix after hearing Jordan Peele was remaking it. Really solid 80s horror with a great score. Can't believe I'd never seen it before.

watched Rocketman.  the positive was that I was surprised at how well several of the actors in the cast could sing and I think Taran Edgerton did a very good job as Elton

the negative is that this seemed to be a self-indulgent pity party by Elton John.  I'm probably a heartless jerk for thinking that but if having a couple of crappy parents is all it takes to be the subject of a biopic then I know a lot of people with stories to sell
