Wow! Great deal for the Sixers. Anderson is a very good wing prospect, AND they also get a 1st.

I question your assessment of Anderson as a very good prospect.  He's a prospect, but at 23, in his second year in the league, and still shooting poorly means he's missing the 3 from being a 3-and-D player.  Some upside there, because at least he's useful on one end of the court, but very good is way too optimistic about him at this point.

Pick is top 18 protected this year.  Will be interesting to see how the protection drops in future years.

This relieves the pressure to trade Okafor.  Chicago is going to have to fork over their 1st if they want him now.  I expect the Sixers will probably try to move Okafor again during the draft.

Pick was protected 1-18.  Pretty nice pickup for Dallas if they expect to resign Noel.  He'll get a fresh start with a good organization there.

Remains to be seen what the future protection will be, because there's no way Dallas will pick 19th this season.

EDIT: Tazz beats me to the punch again!

Yeah, it's pretty much a future pick with that protection.

Aldridge says Bogut likely to be rerouted (not bought out), possibly to Boston. We'll see...

I'll need to see what 1st rounder is included before I can really judge it, but this seems like a good trade for what both teams are doing.  The Mavericks add a strong defensive center next to Dirk (and Powell) and will be able to match any FA offers this summer (now, whether or not the direction their taking - continuing to build around Dirk - is smart is another discussion, but for the path they're taking this is a good trade).  The 76ers get a first (maybe protected 2017?) from the rapidly aging Mavericks, a decent asset, and an expiring contract that they'll likely buyout in Bogut (which may help them save money because of how prorating contracts and salary floor calculations work) for a player that they didn't really have room/a future for.

Hopefully Bogut does get bought out, I'd love to add him while only losing a guy like Mickey or Young

Edit: Top 18 protection this year means it won't be conveyed until next year at the earliest (when I'd assume it will be lottery protected), which actually seems like a decent deal for the Mavs.  If the 6ers are able to redirect Bogut for an early second it could be a really nice move
I'm bitter.

i dont get it for philly - giving up noel for basically a late first round pick doesn't seem like a great return to me
is it bc they figured they'd lose him soon for nothing anyway?

Philly likely re-routing Andrew Bogut, just acquired from Dallas w/Justin Anderson & pick for Nerlens Noel. Boston possibility, per source.

So Dallas got Nerlens for a bench player, cap space, and a protected pick?  We could have easily topped that without a Nets pick.

Hopefully we can pickup Bogut for the stretch run.

It is precisely because they'd lose him for nothing.

He will be a restricted free agent and they don't want to get into a bidding war for a backup center for them.

Noel would not make this team a contender.

Dallas gambling that they can re-sign Noel - and with Cuban as the sales guy I think there's a pretty good chance.  Too bad.  I would have loved Noel here but no way Philly was making us better long term.
