Okay, so I know he isn't the most popular player to grace the parquet, and his recent comments suggest that he was part of the problem last year, but I saw this rumor which indicates Terry would be quite willing to return should Kyrie sign elsewhere:

The 25-year-old guard, who's set to be a restricted free agent, is "more than open" to returning to the Celtics if Kyrie Irving inks a deal elsewhere, according to a report from NBC Sports Boston, which cites an unidentified league source.

This would seem to make sense. No Kyrie = more minutes for Rozier. It may also run deeper as Terry and Kyrie have very different personalities.

Taking this a step further, if we trade Smart and one of Tatum/Brown for AD, we will certainly have a need for backcourt minutes. While Terry has been polarizing to say the least, he has has performed well as a starter. He is one of the most electric players in the league athletically, rebounds extremely well for his position, can knock down an open 3, and get to the hoop (with inconsistent results). If he can continue to work on his weaknesses, and without the pressure of needing to perform well in a contract year, he may very well settle into his new role successfully.

While he can be frustrating at times, a player like Rozier is not boring and can reach an impressive level when he is playing his best. With somebody like AD on board, we may need to take more chances as winning will be one of the best incentives for him staying. I am not here to say whether or not Rozier is a winning player, but he has a ceiling that MLE level veterans do not have...and we may need to sign one of the, as well.

Also, if he comes in at a reasonable price (at or less than Marcus Smart money), he will be an additional contract we can use in a trade down the road should things not work out...maybe even at the trade deadline.

Look, I am not the president of the Rozier fan club - he can be frustrating, bone-headed, and selfish - but we will be left with few alternatives if our starting backcourt is no longer with us. He may just surprise us all and be the reason AD decides to stay.

After how he behaved i would not re-sign him. But if Danny re-sign him, i would respect Danny's decision.

We don’t know how much of an ass KI might have been to Rozier. I’m willing to give him a shot. We don’t need an all star PG anyway

But we do need a competent one.

I'm willing to give Rozier benefit of the doubt. He had a decent playoff run (except game 7 when it was needed) his role chagned and if Irving was a pain, then it effects your game. Also he was looking for a payday, which hurt his game too.

He has all the tools, just don't know if he has the brains for it. Rondo was a pain, but that dude ran the offense like a boss.

Not to hijack the thread, but how do we think Danny views the "Rozier train?"

Is that the train that is broken down and crying about how it's someone else's fault it can't preform?

One thing from Boston that I don't miss is taking the red line to/from work.

I like Rozier.  He's an interesting player.  Not a pure PG for sure.  But interesting and very athletic.  He'll get to the line a lot this coming year.

Nah. I'd rather get a point guard in the draft and develop him rather than bring back Rozier.

Lucky.

Yeah because of this stupid derailment, it also damaged their electrical equipment and a signal building they had there. As a result, regardless if you're coming from Braintree or going to Braintree, you HAVE to get off at JFK and switch platforms (Ashmont side) to continue. And it's reduced service all day long now because of it, even during rush hour.

Worst part is, it may take 4-6 weeks to repair according to an MBTA official who me and a few others talked to yesterday.

I waited at Downtown Crossing for over an hour, then JFK for another 30 minutes, and basically I left work at 4 PM and it took 2.5 hours to get home yesterday  >:(

Agreed.

Especially given he's likely to demand a ludicrous contract given the extension he rejected.
