Nice to see players care about each other. The whole “it’s just a business” crap we hear all the time gets really annoying because it isn’t just a business.

Just made me sad and angry all over again because of Danny trading away Perk with apparently little awareness of how close his team was to each other, how much they played for each other and how important the feeling of family was to them. Rare in pro sports, yes, but true for that team. Danny also damaged chemistry by publicly shopping Ray Allen in the trade market. Is Danny still bitter because he was traded or is he simply oblivious to anything regarding his team besides statistical analysis ? I can only hope that the Kyrie disaster was a lesson he won't forget.

Great article for sure!

The only "negative thing" that I couldn't make sense of:

Quote
Perkins was the first to depart Boston, but not the last. Allen left the Celtics as a free agent in the summer of 2010 after Boston made its defensive stalwart an underwhelming offer.

Did I miss something? She clearly states Perkins was traded in Feb 2011. Then says he was first to go, and in the next sentence says Allen left in summer 2010.

Allen left in 2012.  She clearly had a typo
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

The problem is too many Allen's.

Tony Allen, the defensive stalwart, left in 2010.
Ray Allen, sharpshooting All-Star, left in 2012.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Yeah but she’s talking about Tony Allen.

Yeah that caught my eye too. She definitely mixed that up. It's easy to think of Perkins as the first to go because, while Tony was great for the Celtics, he wasn't seen as part of that core group. But then this article lays out the case that he was part of that group... and then forgets about him for a moment before remembering him again a sentence later.

Other than Tony Allen/Leon Powe with the 2010-11 Memphis Grizzlies and Tony Allen/Rajon Rondo with the 2017-18 New Orleans Pelicans, I don't think anyone else from the 2008 Celtics championship team played with each other again elsewhere later in their careers.

I wish we could've brought back Posey...but I guess he priced himself out of Boston, unfortunately...underrated defender and hit threes at a decent clip...dude had a knack for HARD fouls AFTER the whistle, lol....he wasn't dirty but very clever.

He whacked Kobe a few times in that series...right across the wrists.

PJ Brown retired after that year, too - I'll never forget his clutch FTs versus CLE during the playoffs. He also had that clutch dunk right over Kobe in the closing minutes of our CLASSIC game 4 versus LAL.

Rajon Rondo being the Maestro...Perk bringing toughness...

Sam I am...Scott Pollard...Eddie House...TA..Big Baby....Leon Powe....how many here remember his breakout game 2 in that LAL series?

What a game by The Show. Dude also had a great game versus HOU that year - when we went into HOU vs T-Mac and broke their 22 game winning streak.....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivYABDN0G8Q

We ALSO did a Texas Three-Step that year - sweeping HOU, DAL and SAS during the same road trip.

What a MAGICAL season. I'll never forget it....and the icing on the cake was a drubbing of our hated foe LAL in June.

Of course there was KG/Pierce with the 2013-14 Brooklyn Nets but I disregarded that one since it was a package trade by Ainge.
