Great job Klutch sports, not being able to take 4 mil $ of already promised money to their agent.
An agent that is a top 5 player in the league. Ridiculous.
Someone is giving you a lot of earned money only to be refused.

NBA, this isn't a conflict of interest?
Worth investigating? No?

Well, LBJ is a golden cow after all.
Lets all just act dumb.

PS: 4th pick after having 11th best chance.
Which was the only chance they could ever get AD.
Smart folks can conclude.

I do think there should be an investigation into Davis waving that 4 million. It represents a huge conflict of interest for the league and player with Klutch running the lakers. It would result in nothing, but at least for appearances.

Did LarBrd33 post get deleted? I wanted to give him a TP.

I guess so, I replied and then his post was gone

There are bigger egos in these parts.

Back to the topic though. Looks like the Lakers are going to get their big 3. Would they be the presumable favorites in the since GSW are likely to take a step back.

Well plenty of players have waived trade kickers in the past, NBA has just accepted it. Kyrie waived his to get to Boston IIRC.
Kyrie wasn't de facto an NBA player agent.

Jeez, I missed what he said, that bad?

Anyways, I think it's going to be Russell, saw Magic say something about him. Don't think it's Irving or Leonard.

NY can out bit for Russel, which would be awesome. I think Leonard will go to Clips or Toronto. KD and IRving to Nets, Thompson says, LA could be left with out an other true max player.

If MPJ plays like people think he can play, I think the Nuggets might be very good to come out of the west.
If Leonard and Butler goes to the Clippers, it can be pretty interesting too.
I don't think the Lakers will have a cake walk, specially with the lack of depth

Same as Anthony Davis's 15% of his contract. Thought he absolute number was less due to his smaller contract.

There are weird rules about how trade kickers work that I"m not 100% on, but it sounds like he gave up 1.6 million.

Wondering how the Lakers build any kind of bench if they use this max slot on one player
They won't have much of one. Very shallow team if they get another max player, they'll likely be better next year than this year if that's the case.

How does the need to re-max AD factor into that math? I don't know the exact numbers but he'd be looking at a raise from $27 million to $40+, right?

I don't know what he said and I don't really care (unless he threatened to physically hurt somebody) - I really hope he wasn't really 'permanently banned'. He provides a lot of insightful content, even if some of it is tongue and cheek. We all know LB by now - not all posters should be treated with the same short leash.

As for the topic at hand - did anybody have any doubts this would happen? The Lakers are always able to get what they want. They've been run terribly for years and years: blown top lottery pick after blown top lottery pick, bad trades, horrendous FA signings - who cares? We're the Lakers and everybody wants to play for us!

I guess it is fair to point that out, but waiving 1.6 million sounds a lot less sketchy than just giving up a 4 million. I know it is easy to say I am just being anti-Laker and pro-celtic here, but I honestly wouldn't be bothered if he had taken half of it or something like that. 4 million is quite a bit.

He'll get the $4 million back & then some for Space Jam 2.

He won't be 40+, he'll just be a 25% max player so it'll be in the mid 30s depending on the salary cap numbers after this coming year.

They will almost certainly be a tax team with AD's new deal, so that limits them to the tax payer mid-level and they'd have the BAE I believe.

So if they get a rotation guy for the room this year, they can add two more via those exceptions next year. I think they also still have their 2020 pick right? So they can trade it after they use the pick on a player along with the minimum deals, room guy, and Kuzma.

Just a lot more avenues to round out the roster of AD/LBJ/Third Star. Assuming they are okay paying the tax on it all.

Honestly these kickers are dumb. Make them mandatory if in the contract and not count them against the cap. It should be a bonus and not their new salary.

This feels like sour grapes. Players waive trade kickers all the time - it's perfectly legal for him to do so to benefit his new team.

It's like the Al/tampering thing all over again. Everyone was up in arms over Al, but no one is complaining now that it looks like we're tampering with Kemba.
