This seems like the kind of trade a homer Celtics fan would propose on this board and get laughed off of it. Unless his injuries are of serious concern this seems like a huge steal. We gave away absolutely nothing. The first rounder will be in the late 20s or even 30.

Dead on!

I think Nesmith might turn into something with a fresh start and more opportunities. Still cheering for that guy.

if Brad can get Bryant at the minimum and pull off a move to take in a bench wing into the TPE that would be a fantastic offseason

Lol please don’t make Brogdon’s 3pt% a talking point, he’s a career 38%.  He was on a sht Pacersteam last year coming off of injury.  He’s fine, surround him with a good team and he’s going to feast

Rotation Projection:
G (96 min): Smart (28) / Brogdon (28) / White (20) / Jaylen (16) / Pritchard (4, but there will be more w/ injuries)
F (96 min): Tatum (32) / Horford (10) / Jaylen (16) / Grant (18) / Gallinari (20)
C (48 min): Rob (28) / Horford (14) / Grant (6)

That totals:
Smart 28
Jaylen 32
Tatum 32
Horford 24
Rob 28

Brogdon 28
White 20
Grant 24
Gallo 20

Pritchard and our eventual 3rd string center will get some minutes too, especially when other players miss games.  Once we get that guy, that will be a solid 11 men to roll into the season with.
Sorry, but Tatum and Brown will get significantly more than 32 mpg.  Your first team all NBA player will get at least 38. He averaged 41 last year.

I know ideally they are all selfless and value rest over numbers, but be real.

Brogdon shot 31% from 3 last year...
Sounds like a perfect fit!

Be fair though, he is a career 38% 3P%  He is definitely not a wing level shooter, definitely more the combo-PG type but if he can do what can do for us and shoot at 38%'ish from 3, he is going to be a great add.

Injuries are an issue but we will have the depth to manage his minutes.  He should work well with the other starters either as a starter himself or off the bench.  Lots of versatility, plenty of ways we can use him.

i expect gallinaro to get a lot of open looks at the basket. let's see if he can make them. if so, the celtics will be very hard to beat.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Tatum was under 36 mpg in the regular season and Brown was under 34 mpg.  I'd expect both of them to be in that range again, which is actually a lot.  Now, in the playoffs, those numbers will jump up as the rotation and bench shrink.  That is also to be expected.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Where are these numbers coming from?  He averaged under 36

I think Tatum and Brown should get around 34-36 next year with depth.  They played a lot of basketball and it showed in the Finals.  Especially Tatum.  With the Olympics he played non stop.

Also, doing a minutes distribution projection like this would be assuming all players play 82 games which we know won’t happen. There will be plenty of minutes to go around, and even Pritchard will get his spot minutes at times.

I have long thought that Brogdon got a bit stats bump from playing on a team with little ball-handling creative offensive talent. I remember worrying about how well Brogdon and Oladipo would co-exist as Oladipo had a similar bump prior to Brogdon's arrival.

I'd expect to see Brogdon's numbers take a hit here in Boston as he plays more without the ball. Probably close to his last year in Milwaukee when he was a 14-15ppg 4apg guy instead of the 20ppg 6-7apg guy he was when he was an All-Star.

not worried about his stat line as long has he's healthy enough to play most games and be effective when he plays

this is awesome news, I have always like Brogdon.

My only MINOR concern, is how to balance minutes between him and smart?
White came here to be a backup.  Smart solidified his starter position last year.  Brogdon has pretty much started every game he has played since his 3rd year.
Are we going to start both Smart and Brogdon?
