Why did we make the Kemba / Horford deal?

Don't care about the contract. Horford is contributing to winning in a big way. The upgrade from Kemba to Horford completely worth the 1st rd pick.

I suspect the OP would agree on the present value of Horford. I think the question will re-occur if the Cs can't keep this heat up.

Yeah.  This thread was made on January 22.  The team was 23-24, seemingly going nowhere.  At that point, the trade certainly wasn't worth a #1.

Since that point, the team has played extremely well (16-3).  So, I'd like to take credit for the turnaround, as Al and the rest of the team clearly were motivated by my thread.

I’m glad to have threads like this turn out poorly.  The other notable one I made with a similar effect was one declaring Terry Rozier to be the worst rotation player in the NBA.

Yes, but then the schedule got easier, the team got healthier, and the trades shrunk the rotation.

Three reasons:

1. Cheap owner in Scroogebeck
2. Clueless president of basketball operations in Brad Pitino
3. Management and ownership realising that they can sell a caricature of our 'DNA and culture' to gullible fans like many here on this forum to keep revenues high while skimping out on expenses (I love everyone here, but the optimism around the club during the summer of 2021 was extremely concerning when we have had multiple clubs in other sports fail after embarking on such a path)
