Thought some long time posters may find this interesting as he was once a source of great discussion here. https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/265383/Jahlil-Okafor-To-Sign-With-Guangsha-In-China

Has to be one of the bigger busts of the last 10 years. At least some of the other ones like Parker were just devastated by injuries.

This is perfect evidence, that in actuality, Sam Hinkie was a huge failure.

If he was such a genius…why would he select a redundant, old fashioned player, who had so many glaring flaws, especially over a modern unicorn like Porzingis.

5' 10" former point guard

Career highlight: 1973-74 championship, Boston Celtics

Career lowlight: traded for a washing machine

Couldn't Jahlil have been Embiid? Had he developed his game a bit more.

Could he have been productive? Perhaps but whatever talent he had was ruined by the toxic culture created by Hinkie’s tanking.

Okafor was never going to be a star player, his defensive iq was terrible, he had slow feet, poor acceleration and his shooting stroke was never going to be at a star level.

Embiid's footspeed is also slow as hell. But I suppose he's bigger than Okafor and just because of that he's better.

Edit: And just to be clear I'm not being sarcastic with my second sentence. 6'10 or 6'11 vs. 7'1 makes a world of difference of course.

LOL I think at that point he just stopped caring, and/or just been out of the league for quite a while right?

Feels like he's been resting on his laurels a little much. Being Emeka Okafor's nephew and a high school phenom and whatnot.
