Cs receive: Kenrich Williams, Darius Bazley, 2023 MIA 1st Round Pick

2) Cs trade: Smart, Freedom

or

3) Cs trade: Smart, Nesmith or Langford (or both for all I care), 2022 1st (Top 10 Protected)
Cs receive: Cole Anthony, Terrence Ross

So you really like Marcus, huh? Doubt the C’s make any moves prior to the Deadline in Feb.

How good is Cole Anthony?

20ppg but on only 55% TS%. Reputation as a scoring PG who looks after himself but not others. It is not like his team is winning games while puts up 20-6-5 every night. Bad FTA numbers at 4 per game vs 16 FGAs so clearly reliant on his shooting. 35% from 3.

It’s certainly not on Anthony that his team isn’t winning much. He’s a good not great player who plays with pace and aggression, which is a major void of the Cs. He’d be an upgrade at PG.

We should have drafted him over Nosmith.

What’s Jan 20th?

Believe that’s the date when certain players are eligible to be traded. Doubt anything happens on that day, though. Trade deadline is 2/10.

Is ‘Ish’ short for a longer name?

His name is Ishmael Larry Smith. His parents were huge Bird fans.

Go Cs!

Tomorrow is January 20th. You know what that means, Celtics fans.... MARCUS SMART CAN BE TRADED TOMORROW!!

Resurrecting this chain accordingly.

Considering we're playing the Hornets tonight, I'd re-state that a Smart <> Washington based deal would make some sense for both teams. I think Washington would make for a nice compliment to Grant Williams in the PF rotation, and allow the Cs to move Horford to the pure back-up C role he should be in.

We'd also then be cornering the market on guys named Pajamas in the league....

Wonder if Atlanta would be interested in a deal around Smart and Bogdanovich.

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan

It makes sense, right?  Neither is having a very good year, but both do things that the acquiring team could really use.  I don't watch enough of the Hawks to know why Bogdanovic has cratered this season, but if he can get back to the way he was playing last season, he'd be very useful and a great fit for us.  And the Hawks sorely need a defensive presence in their lineup next to Trae.

We'd also need to set up a second trade for a legitimate PG.

I haven't watched a ton of Atlanta this season either, but it seems the whole team has taken a step back. Not sure if the coach has lost the team already, but it's odd.

Smart would make sense next to Trae in the backcourt as the primary guard defender and secondary ballhandler. Bogdan has been a credible shooter in the past and he would give the Jays spacing, and he's solid playmaker - kind of a Hayward-lite. Not sure what type of draft compensation would be needed, but it's something that should be considered from both sides.

Didn't know that! TP.

Sadly, that's the problem for us old fogey Celtics fans. We still live in a world where Larry Bird is relevant. Young players come into the Garden, somebody proudly points them to the banners, and they roll their eyes and say "Ok, boomer."

It's just their defence falling apart because it's pretty unsustainable to have a tenable defence with a WOAT level defensive backcourt and average defensive wings.
