Spurs and Raptors start the game with 24-second shotclock violations to honor Kobe

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Hard to put into words how bad this one feels...

When I saw the (now false) report that all four of his daughters were on the helicopter, I just felt sick, thinking about his whole legacy/family tree was being wiped out. I am still devastated that his oldest daughter (and a few others) were killed. So much life to live for all of them, just cut short.

RIP.

Absolutely horrendous about his daughter. Senseless for a young person with the whole world in front of them to die in such a horrible way. Prayers for the Bryant family. I can’t even imagine what his wife and daughters are going through right now.
Young people die around the world in even more horrible ways all the time.  Tragic events happen all the time including occasionally ones that take out whole families.  Can you really not imagine what they're going through?

Seems like such an odd comment for you to make in a thread which should be meant for respect and tribute for the deceased.

Can't believe the NBA isn't canceling all games today.

Kobe would play in any game if he could why cancel games to honor a guy who loved playing basketball?

Kobe broke the heart of Celtic fans one last time, while also breaking his fans hearts for the first time.

I get some of the Twitter accounts are clearly created just for trolling, but also reading some of these replies on these kinds of posts just makes me want to punch my computer  >:(

Somehow this stings way worse than the game seven loss in 2010.

It Puts perverse closure on that horrible feeling from losing that one for the last 10 years.

I'm not glad that my thoughts too have gone to basketball and the rivalry.  There has been no one who has "hated" the Lakers more than me -- and, frankly, "hated" Kobe.    That's gone.  Perspective does take hold in the face of things that really matter.  I'll continue to root against the Lakers, but the road took a permanent turn today.
