I've heard nothing but great things about this kids potential and athleticism, but have not watched him a ton. Has anyone seen him a lot and is he worth the 17th pick?

I think he is a little bit of a reach at 17. He has blazing speed, but he is also a project. He was very raw, made bad decisions at UCLA.

Hopefully we will be looking at better wing players sliding down to the 17th pick. I would take Warren, Young, Hood over him.

Or if i am going to reach for a raw athletic type, i might rather go for Clint Capela.

On the other hand i would not be upset taking Lavine at 17. He can shoot and is a great athlete. And like Gerald Green his best days might be much further down the road.

I'm biased against two things...Syracuse players and players like LaVine. I'd much prefer a hard working player who has developed/cultivated his talent or a player who has (at least) one definable skill. LaVine is just another athletic 6'3"-6'5" guy. Once you are picking late in the draft, make sure whoever you pick will at least be a role player (one specific skill set). LaVine has none. He is all potential and no current substance. Pass...

I would pass on him.  I think his hype is because he dunks awesomely. I just don't see him becoming a special player in the NBA, don't think he has "it".

He can shoot the 3. That has value. Kind of like Gerald Green. Raw. Super athletic. Can shoot the 3.

I can understand not taking him though. I am hoping for someone better.

Wouldn't exactly say that 37% from college distance qualifies him as a three point shooter...

I really hope that Rodney Hood drops to the Celtics at 17.

I'm a huge LaVine fan, great athleticism and a good shot, he has huge upside and with us rebuilding, upside is what we need.

In his freshman year he was inconsistent, but he was overshadowed by some very good players. Elite athletes like him always jump up the draft board after athletic testing and work outs, I bet he's not around when we pick at 17, but if he is he's who I want.

If we can get Gordon and him I think it would give us the athleticism to make up for what we give up playing sully and no.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

If Rodney Hood falls to 17 that would be awesome but I went to a rival high school of his and graduated the same year. He torched us in every way possible, was dominate at MSU as a freshman, but hasn't shown anything but his shot off at Duke. He has such an ability to slash and be a dominate wing but he's a lot like Jeff Green in that he likes to settle for the three. I love both of those guys but I don't want Green mentoring a player that is already a lot like him. Just my opinion

Would prefer Warren/Hood. Want a scorer at 3 in case of a Green trade
