The original trailer for Dead Poet's society was *terrible*.  Great movie, though.

Well I remember seeing the ads for The Matrix, and seeing Keanu Reeves star in it and refusing to see it.  Ended up renting it and enjoyed it.

As a wee lad, I thought Braveheart was going to be a cheesy romantic epic.  Turns it it was the war movie that redefined war movies.

Grandma's Boy was going to be awful... but then I saw it and it wasn't anything like I expected, and I laughed until I could barely breathe.

  • "This is beautiful. What is that? Velvet?"
Mars Attacks and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

I feel like the movies that look awful and then end up being good are usually comedies.  So add these to the list.
"Coach you were 24 and 58 last year, why the playoff talk?"
"Well we made a couple of key trades . . . and we got The Funk."

Wanted - it looked awful. Then I watched it and was torn between "this is ridiculous" and "this is a fun movie". I decided on this is a fun movie.

First off, RV is an abomination of a movie.  Complete garbage.

But if I were to add some movies to this list, I'd choose Suicide Kings and Surviving Christmas.

Hey, maybe you can even throw Cop and a Half and 3 Ninjas onto the list for nostalgia's sake.

Down Periscope (Kelsey Grammer as a Navy captain?  Somehow was still funny)

No clue why, but I absolutely loved that movie.

Similarly, I also was a big fan of Canadian Bacon.

I also thought Tin Cup was very underrated.

Ohhhh I forgot lucky number slevin... I'm not a big Josh Hartnett fan (but I'm warming to him) and the ads made that movie look AWFUL.  My brother rented it when I was visiting and I watched it with no choice.  It was grrrreat.

Some of the movies you guys are mentioning are blowing my mind.  Looking at who directed them, why would you think they'd be terrible movies?

One movie that falls into this list would be Kung Pao: Enter the Fist.  I thought it was hilarious.  The trailer didnt do it any justice.

Baseketball- With the guys from South Park. I expected it to be garbage, but I laughed a few times.

I didn't think that Alpha Dog was going to be tolerable, but I got into it. I really liked that scene where the guy who was on speed beat everyone in the whole bar up.......

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure was a lot better than I expected.

I'll second all three.  Baseketball is one of my favorites.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.
