Definitely a game of swings, thought the C’s had figured it out but give Miami credit esp Robinson.

Not loving this SL team that Brad put together. Davison and Walsh are decent, but that’s about it.
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

First half take-aways
- Disappointing half for Davison. Thrown off early by getting blitzed. Missed some easy ones. Had some ugly turnovers. Davison's on-ball defense is pretty bad. He keeps dying on screens. They ran that simple slip screen action for 3-4 threes that were directly Davison's fault.
- Robinson for Miami looks really good. Our interior defense is helping that.
- I'm not sure the refs realized it was Jovic, not Jokic out there. They gave him a few questionable calls.
- Walsh's shot looks good to me. Will be inconsistent no doubt. I'd like to him be a bit more aggressive on defense. Good defensive rebounding too.
- Balcerowski might be alright, but he needs to show more resistance defensively.
- Azubuiki looks like a waste of a roster spot ... on the summer league team. Not a viable NBA player.
- I like Scrubb. I see the potential. Reminds me a bit of Will Barton. Tough drives to the left. Apparently Miami didn't get the scouting report on his right hand until the late second quarter. I'd be good taking a chance on his talent.
- I like what I saw from Bean. I need to watch more closely. He looks unathletic, but I'm not sure he actually is. He might just be awkward-looking. Solid over game. Reminds me a bit of Struss.

Azubuiki looked a little better, but nothing great. I like aggressive scoring Davison a lot better.

Their defense looks terrible. That is at least partially due to Balcerowski. Hopefully that was just a bad matchup for him.

The Cs team just seemed a lot smaller overall and their frontcourt got demolished. The Heat also effectively used the traps and pressure D to force our smaller guards into making tough passes.

Banton is supposed to play in summer league too, right?

Walsh looked very good, I see him contributing this year. Scrubb was a nice surprise although I don't see him sticking in the league. JD Davidson was disappointing imo for a second year player. The rest of the team is forgettable including the guy who looks like Duncan Robinson's clone.

If Walsh hovered around 30% from 3 last year, where do you think he would have went in the draft?

Keeping no one from this summer league team but Walsh. Send Davison to Maine and get rid of the rest of them.

no love for Balcerowski? i have watched his highlight videos a bit and he is a very good passer and can cut to the basket well.

the big question was his defense and how tough he can play.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Walsh’s shot looked better than advertised.

I found this tidbit interesting.

https://arkansasrazorbacks.com/roster/jordan-walsh/
“Only shot 27.8% from 3-point range, but was 34.4% (11-of-32) from deep the final 19 games.”

Completely forgot about him. I am intrigued by the 6’9” PG.

Just JD and Walsh looked okay but had hoped for more from JD. His defense wasn’t too good at times, going under the pick to let Smith bomb away.

Right, and Robinson went off for 36 points so what does that tell you.

Really only interested in Walsh and Davison from this group.  Both showed some promise.

Keep throwing new looks at Davison.  He’ll struggle.  That’s fine; one step at a time.  He wants to be a playmaker out there and that’s important to me.

Good to see Walsh knock down some outside shots.  He could be a useful player, perhaps as early as this season given our mediocre wing depth, if he hits open looks.
