The Menu with Ralph Fiennes and Ana Taylor-Joy. It centers around a couple who attend an exclusive dinner by a renowned, but disillusioned chef.

The movie teeters uneasily between humor, realism, and horror. It's certainly a black comedy, but it's a messy one whose message would be better-received with a firmer sense of tone.

Strange World.  It wasn't amazing, but I thought it was pretty good, and the kids enjoyed it.  I'm surprised that it's looking like a box office bomb, and that the audience reviews are very mediocre.

christmas movie spree the past few days:
 - A Christmas Story Christmas:  it was ok.  interesting to see the kids grown up but didn't quite come close to capturing the magic of the original
- Spirited: a different spin on A Christmas Carol.  not bad.  my wife and I have a bet on how quickly it's made into a stage musical.
- Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special: it was ok.  had some goofy moments which helped but overall, a mediocre special

Finally saw Black Adam and I thought it was entertaining. The first half of the movie was pretty good with the other heroes but the second half, like some other DC movies in my opinion, became too much magic/fantasy and over the top CGI. I also thought the director didn't do great service. There were parts that were way too cheesy (like in the very end with the pause before he says his name) and I think they could have explored the more charismatic character like the atom guy.

Overall, I didn't think it was horrible and would have watched a sequel. The problem with DC is that there is no continuity so I am watching and thinking what is the point of some of the easter eggs they throw in there.

Haven't heard much about this movie but am looking forward to coming out on Disney+. I wonder if it can get the Encanto bump. Encanto came out on theaters with mediocre numbers and not talked about much. Once it went to Disney+ it blew up.

Banshees of Inishiren.  good movie -- well acted.  not the most exciting movie I've ever seen but Gleason and Farrell were really good in their parts.

Great allegory, too. Contender for Best Picture 2022, although I’d give the nod to Top Gun: Maverick or Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Seconded, although I called the “twist” when the glass wall pushed against Flo.

Facing Nolan. If you like baseball, particularly if you grew up wanting to be a great pitcher like Nolan Ryan, this is a great documentary on Netflix.

Top Gun 2: Maverick

I finally gave in and watched it On Demand. OMG, it's awful.
They even drag the carcass of poor ol' Val Kilmer, who is recovering from throat cancer in real life, into this melodrama.
Just a 2-hour+ ego fix for Tom Cruise.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Val Kilmer has throat cancer in real life? Wow, I didn't know that. I thought the movie was entertaining but I also think it's the kind of movie that works better on the big screen.

I saw it in the big screen and was psyched when leaving the theater. I thought it was great for its purpose.

I just watched the Banshees of Inisherin. Loved the cinematography and dialogue.
