I haven't seen this covered yet on the blog and if it was, my apologies. This is obviously why Scal was dressed last night to play.

Tony Allen’s 2008 season could be over.

While playing in a one-on-one tournament with Rajon Rondo, Glen Davis and Gabe Pruitt at practice yesterday, the Celtics defensive specialist injured his right ankle.

He did not dress for last night’s game, and Boston forward Brian Scalabrine took his place on the Celtics roster.

Allen said he hoped his ankle heals quickly.

“Hopefully it will be better by tomorrow,” Allen said. “If I can just get the pain out of it. I was in the motion of making a move and I tripped. I was actually playing good until that last play. I tripped over my own foot.”

Obviously not a huge loss, considering he was a liability on the floor due to his inconsistency. Wouldn't that be something if Scal saw a spot minute or two in the playoffs?

Where did it say this could be serious enough to end his season?  Pending clarification, I'm going to edit your title.

Apologies. First sentence of the article said that his season "could" be over, not that it actually is.

Ah, I see -- sloppy reporting by the projo reporter.  There's no indication that this is a serious injury; if Tony doesn't get any more playing time in the playoffs, I'm sure it will have more to do with him sucking and little to do with his injury.

The way he has played in the playoffs, he should be done for the playoffs.

I agree.  I actually think Scal should be dressing over him anyways.

The word going around the media last night was that Tony's season might be over.  To my knowledge, nobody addressed it or said as much, but the talk was that he might be done for the season.  It's all rumors at this point until he is evaluated by the MD.  He left the Garden before they even opened up the locker room to the media and he walked directly in front of me as he left and moved quickly and without a limp.  That also does not mean that he is healthy enough to play ball either.  For what it's worth...

  • You know my methods, Watson.
i think tony was dropped on his head when he was a baby a few too many times...

but seriously, you do feel for him.  he's an accident waiting to happen.  hopefully he can ride this out and get his ring here and then move on with his life.  danny is now scouting his replacement with the 30th pick...
