He needs to be able to defend at an acceptably-below-average level before he gets steady minutes. 

Right now guy’s defense has him looking like Jabari Parker out there.
Absurdly hyperbolic. Mazz is wrong to bench him like this - disconnect between the FO and coaching it seems

I agree. I think his defense is lacking compared to even Grant but his offense as far as bigs is only second to Al.

I don't think there's a disconnect.  The FO said they were looking for depth and for guys who could fill roles but might not play every night.  Muscala hasn't played every night, and he's been a career backup on some bad teams.  He's done some nice things when he's been called on since arriving, but also been exposed at other times too.

I don't think it aligns insofar as that role remaining the same despite Rob being injured and Grant being benched (hurt?), which is a mistake in my opinion
