Now we just need to sign Carmelo and Dwight and talk Gasol and Parker out of retirement and we can have 5 of the 2013 All NBA Team members on the squad.  Hey maybe Westbrook gets cut and we can add him also.  David Lee may be available as well.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I'm ok with it. He worked his backside off for Brooklyn last year even though he was limited. I think he'll be a good influence.

Hysterical thread. Just about every take in the book aside from he’s a star.

I think the Garden crown is going to love Blake Griffin.

Hahaha...yeah... the ring chasing vet with big name that many have been clamoring for yet, its kinda meh.

He will help as a limited energy big. Will have his moments but doubt he wins us a playoff game or anything like that

I’m happy with this, much more comfortable with him than kornet getting solid minutes.

I think the ideal situation is he's insurance if none of the string of projects they have can take the next step. The overlooked thing about no-name young guys is if anyone of them develop you have a cheap rotation player on your roster for a season or two.

This !! I remember him giving them life in game 3 and hitting 3s.

I don't get why we sign him, but turn up our nose on Carmelo?

i think we have room for both of them

Anyone who is saying he's not as bad a defender as he seems is just trying to convince themselves otherwise.  He's a terrible defender.  He's not a good shooter.  I'm not sure if he's even the gallo replacement.  If we have to count on him for big minutes the C's are in trouble.  He's no where close to being as good as gallo at this stage of his career.  Gallo is bad on D but can still score and shoot with the best PF/C's.

I think some of us are only remembering a few plays in the series against us.  He only played 25 minutes total and didn't even get into 2 of the games.  He tended to do the Wally Szczerbiak style displays of intensity every time he made a play which brings attention.

Everyone assumes that a signing like this was waiting on the Celtics making up their mind.  How do you know the wait wasn't Griffin making up his mind?  And Carmelo, people assume that all we have to do is present an offer and Carmelo or Cousins or whoever will just sign with us.  I suspect it is the players that are taking their time and waiting on teams like LAL.

At any rate, I think Blake Griffin is as good a signing as any of these guys.  They are all in the same range in my opinion.  As others have said, Griffin played with heart against us in the playoffs, he just got gassed, couldn't stay on the court other than short spurts.  Let's see if we can improve his conditioning.

While I m away battling Ian , ya’ll signing Blake .

He need conditioning….a lot from what I recall and needs salads .  He ain’t the dude that leaped over cars for fun anymore that’s for sure.
I like him better than Mello …..who has very little get up and go left , maybe a flat footed three shot about extent of his NBA game .

I'd probably have prefered Carmelo. But you also can't have too many ring chasers as they can form their own clique that may not align with the core of the team. Another thing to consider is they've still got some roster flexibility so they can move some pieces during the season if things aren't working out or a better option becomes available.  The team you start the season with isn't necessarily the one you're going to finish with.

underwhelming signing since he looked pretty cooked in the playoffs for the most part.  hopefully better than the end-of-bench projects Brad has collected so far.  hopefully a good locker room presence for us

I like it. He gave it his all against us last year. I still think Luka Samanic will provide more on the court for us than him though
