My guess is Kyrie isn't coming back, and as others have speculated, this meeting is just a formality.  But who knows, you can't believe everything you hear and Kyrie is not an easy person to read.

I still want him back, even if I doubt it happens.

I suspect that our only chance with Kyrie was to trade for Davis.  In that Davis appears to have made clear he wanted no long term part of Boston, It would have been franchise suicide to trade anything of value for him for a one year rental.  Plus even if we did pull off a trade but Kyrie know he would only stay one year I doubt that Kyrie signs long term.

As for the meeting, of course they are going to talk.  Kyrie is likely just confirming he has no plans to stay.  But if NYK or BKN has talked to Kyrie already, it is tampering.

Don't underestimate the fact that the Celtics can offer him more money than anyone else.
Also don’t underestimate the reports from every credible guy in the nba world saying he’s gone

i have read one report saying that Brooklyn believes he will sign with them and are very confident. I have not seen anything official from anyone, let alone every credible guy in the NBA. WOW overreach of the year?

If Boston/Brooklyn did a sign-and-trade wouldn't it allow Brooklyn to then hold on to their cap space?

And add two more max contracts such as Butler and another?

My gut tells me he's gone.  I'd certainly welcome him back, though.

I just don't see what drawbacks come from actually having this meeting with Kyrie.  What are some legit points to NOT having this sitdown?

Not even sure why this is necessary... I would love the team to just cancel the meeting and wish him good luck with his future endeavors.

Honestly all this make the team look desperate

so they cancel a meeting with an all-star under contract because some people in the media floated the idea that he is signing with brooklyn? wow.

Kyrie has been essentially shooting a mini documentary where he's talking to crossing guards and the like... he just loves the attention. When he makes his announcement expect some thing corny like "Home is where my heart is..." and him to make it an event

Are you kidding me??

Why the hell was this not planned like 2 weeks ago. You know, when there was a chance to trade for AD...  ???
Ainge said 2 weeks ago that talks with Kyrie had been "ongoing".

It looks like the Nets didn’t make RHJ a qualifying offer today making him an unrestricted free agent signaling they want even more cap space.  I believe They now have 46 mil in cap space.  If they do the same with Russell around 55 mil in cap space.  They could trade Joe Harris or Dinwiddie to get to 2 max slots, but they are losing assets to get there.

mannix on omf radio said "The Celtics and Kyrie have had no contact in weeks. He thinks Kyrie is gone but...it's Kyrie, so who knows."

Who's lying?

This seems, um, a little late.

Pretty sure Danny has been speaking with Kyrie unless Danny had given up on him returning. Not like Danny or Kyrie would posting texts online or sharing their conversations.
