Patrick Ewing theory anyone?

Too soon?

Don't over react to one game against the Magic...

Soon we'll see "Celtics 1-0 without Thomas. Isn't it clear we're better without him?" posts, ala Rondo when he was still here
Seriously it's sickening to see this **** on here. Smart's had one good game and we are so quick to annoint him starting point guard. One bad game by IT and we are ready to bench him already. That's how bad the Smart bias is around here
There are those who like Smart and those who've been saying they'd like to see IT off the bench.  This game is definitely giving credence to those opinions, but this game isn't the genesis of those opinions.   I don't think anyone doesn't like IT -- just those who see his eventual best value as a sixth man scorer.

You don't bring an All Star off the bench.

Don't tell McHale or Hondo.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

whatever is best for the team...this is the boston celtics not IT celtics

I like IT but Ainge brought him in , in the 1st place to come off the bench....

It was because Smart went down with injuries , IT took over the PG job... I mean he played well , and deserved it

but what IT is best in the end is an offensive weapon....he is not a PG... and also has limitations on the defensive end.....

This is where Smart is better

can you look at the big picture

team comes 1st

and team play at both ends has not looked this good in a long time
I am. Our team is 12-8 and 3rd in the East with IT starting. If you think that Smart can put up this performance with any consistency over an 82 game season than your on something. IT consistently puts our team on his back in the 4th to help win us games and has done that consistently ever since he came here starting or not. There's a reason that our record has dramatically improved every year that IT has improved as a player. This year he's having another career year and for some reason we are on pace for 50 wins.

If Smart wants to start then it's simple. Outplay IT and seeing that he can't do that than he has no business starting for the Celtics. IT earned the starting job and he has rewarded us with a 48 win season last year and again a 50 win pace this year

18 point lead down to 12 (almost 10).   How about not letting them back in this one?

Go C's.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Great quarter from the C's.  Hard to complain about anything, but the defense dropped off a bit towards the end of the 3rd.

Those teams had WAY more talent then this one does.

Order has been restored in Celtics land and Jaylen Brown is obviously our best player. That is going to be an interesting development to see how big a player he becomes in his rookie year. He looks NBA ready, just new at it. He must have dominated college. Negative Celtics fans must be pulling their hair out hating this game.

That was a foul on Horford when he drove I know that.  The defender jumped into him and fouled him as Horford was adjusting in the air.   What people do to KO is something else entirely.  No wonder Mchale closelined Rambis when they call stuff like that.  Now that's a foul lol.

I love Jaylen but he still has loads of work to do!

Making the allstar team isn't a lock. If we're winning and look playoff bound, we'll probably have a
Player on the team, but no saying it's IT.

Maybe Bradley goes and Smart plays PG while IT goes over to the 2.  I think we are limited when our offense is dependent on a 5'9" guy who can get shut down in the playoffs.

Nice to see some Smart enthusiasm on this board but let's not go overboard.

IT is averaging 26 and 6 assists. Marcus Smart has put up 26 points twice in his career. IT is simply a better player at PG than Smart at this stage and it's not even close.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.
