USA swimmer @smeathers5 (no muscle) coached by Celtic great @gordonhayward (no brace) lost a devastating race to Australian swimmer @stephen_mount today. No rematch is scheduled nor will be. #swimmersneedmuscles

Great to see! Now yeah, I'll admit his ankle still looks a bit crooked (and you can see the scar if you look closely), but this is still encouraging to see  ;D

Note that the C's haven't officially ruled Hayward out for the season. They "expect" he'll miss the season, but they are keeping the door open I guess.

Truthfully, the odds are likely that he does miss the rest of the year, but man, it would be nice if he recovers and plays limited minutes off the bench come April (playoff time). Obviously, health first, but so far the recovery looks promising (and a bit quick, too).

Although I'll admit, Hayward is a little too close to the slippery edge of the pool for my liking  :P

I think it looks crooked because of the angle at which he's placing his foot, and also because of the camera angle.

But yes, this is another encouraging sign!

Yeah actually you may be right. Angle certainly looks like a factor here. TP for that.

its early january and hayward is officially walking around like one of us now.

i dont believe ainge would tweet something like this unless it was a generally positive news regarding the recovery process.

Hayward off the bench + DPE = long playoff run! (hopefully)

Its just matter time .  maybe not as long as was once thought.   If he can start putting more stress on the ankle and practice his moves.

I think people are getting their hopes way to high. Its great that Gordon is progressing to where he has but thats miles and miles away from being in NBA shape and ready to compete in the playoffs. I am expecting to see him next season.

If I were him I'd wait for next season, one wrong landing and his career is over. One sneaker placed under his foot at the right time.

We're not contending for a ring here.

Actually, I noticed the ankle too and went on Paul George’s instagram. Even 2 years later his leg still has a slight bump in the middle, and look how he’s playing. I think it’s just the angle, but even if it isn’t I wouldn’t be too concerned

I suppose it's better to remain cautiously pessimistic, but I am totally expecting him back at this point. Not only does he not have a brace on, but he is walking around the edge of a slippery pool in [non-Brinks Truck] slides. You'd think he'd at least have some kind-of Chucks or running shoes on; slides are like the least supportive footwear on the planet.

Three months is a lot of time to really start strengthening everything that needs to be strengthened. If he is cleared to play, then I (and all of Cs nation) will welcome him back with open arms.

I was looking for updates earlier today on Gordon so TP to Phantom for a well-timed thread!  :D

I hate to be the cold water on the fire, but I agree with you.  Still a long way back, and it def shouldn't be rushed whatsoever.

I did not see this here. Sorry if it was posted elsewhere.

A Haberstroh piece on Hayward’s recovery (both physical and mental).
