All: this looks like it's fixed, but please give me a shout at admin 'at' celticsstrong.com if you see anything like this again. Will get to me fastest that way if I'm not currently reading the forum.

Never gotten a spam redirect, but it might be different in Aus, for whatever reason

I ended downloading an ad blocker browser and only go to CelticsStrong on that browser. Celticsstrong became unusable on my regular browsers. That scroll advertisements, redirects and popup ads became too much

To be clear, any pop ups or redirects are not from CelticsStrong and are actual attempts to hack/ spam the site.

We did one pop up briefly for our ticket giveaway but found the MailChimp pop up too intrusive.

Of course it’s everyones prerogative regarding ad blockers, but please do share feedback and keep ads on when you can. It’s how we keep the site viable and running.

Still happening to  me on Safari on my ipad at home and iPhone at a relatives.

Very weird.

The redirect knows if I'm on Verizon (it says "dear Verizon Customer, you have been selected.....") at my relatives or Comcast at home ("Dear Comcast customer....").

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Got it on my cell phone. My adblocker through firefox stops it on my laptop.

When using Safari, try doing the following:

Right-click the URL in the Address Bar (where it says "forum.celtcsstrong.com").  You should get a context menu.

Choose "Settings for this Website..."

In the options that are presented, choose "Enable content-blockers".

This should (hopefully) stop many of these problems.

I have it in this mode (the default for all my browsing) and the only ad-related glitche that I'm finding annoying is the following:

Every time I go to a thread page, an add banner is placed across the bottom of the page, forcing me to click the "X" to close it.  In Safari, which by default has a right scroll bar that only appears ("on demand") when you scroll or move the mouse over to where it will appear, the scroll bar pops up overlaying most (not all) of the ad-banner's close button.  I have to very carefully click on the part of the button that is still exposed.  Not a huge deal, but annoying.
