Aside from the #14, what would you give up to move the #8?
Based on draft points, you can probably get 8 for 14 and 26 or 30. These points are from a couple years ago, and is only one of many, but 8 is 1925 points, 14 is 1365 and 26 is 750 and 30 is 605.
I think they can get to 7 with Detroit. They need players, so offer 14 and 26 to them for 7 (2060 pts). The Pistons then get two potential starting players.
I have seen similar draft value charts. I believe that we could get all the way up to #4 from Chicago, potentially:
14, 26, 30 (Where we stand now)
8, 26 (after 14+30 for Knicks' 8 )
4 (after 8+26 for Chicago's 4 )
Essentially, 14 + 30 get us the #8 from the Knicks. Then 8 + 26 get us to #4 from Chicago. It is understood that this is all based on the "on paper" value of the picks but I would not have any problem seeing Danny try to consolidate these picks if he is really sure about who he is moving up to take. The player taken at #8 or even at #14 could end up just as good as the player taken at #4. This is the draft, it is a crap shoot. Based on that, maybe having #8 and #26 for example is better than having #4, you get two rolls of the dice instead of one.
As I said, I think it would make things interesting if Danny did try to move up once or twice so for that reason alone, as a fan, I am kind of rooting for that.
