Not a good look that the Olympic team lost to a bunch of Americans not on the Olympic team.

I mean the men?s Olympic team was close to the worst look in the history of nba players playing in the Olympics. 44 point favorites winning by one woof. This all star game was nearly
Double the total points of a decent amount of regular season wnba games. Nobody was taking it serious

Interesting WNBA All-Stat game format, that I didn't understand at first.

I thought the all stars were being split between USA and the World.

But it's the Olympic team vs the best players not on the Olympic team. So if the NBA did that, you'd have Brown, Brunson, Irving, Maxey, etc. going against Team USA, that could be cool to see (if played more competitively), especially if you'd get guys like Brown going hard to prove a point.

Wouldn't work in the NBA, but works in the WNBA due to the timing of the all star game and the Olympics.

I was watching an old ABA All-Star game on youtube a while back. I believe it was their last ASG in 1976 and they played their Championship team against other All-Stars.

So like the Boston Celtics vs rest of the league's All-Stars.

Terrible look. I mean the last time this happened in women's basketball, the Olympic team only went onto win the gold.

I think the "bad look" is more about the gate-keeping of the old guard than the actual prospects of the US women's team winning the gold again. I thought multiple players looked way better than multiple of the olympic team.

Oh, my bad then. I agree completely. The old guard and "politics" is exactly why Arike Ogunbowale withdraw her name for national team consideration.

Yes. Exactly.  Pick the best players, especially if they want to play, not the older ones "who earned it".  Arike Ogunbowale was clearly the best player on the floor last night.  I'm not saying she is better than players like Wilson or Stewart, but she should pretty clearly be on the team.  And I know Clark and Reese are rookies and maybe not quite there, but they are the 2 biggest draws in the sport.  I'd rather see them to early than 42 year old Taurasi get one more shot.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Taurasi, if she can stay healthy, is still one of the best players to have on that team. But the having Lloyd over Clark and Ogunbowale is questionable, even though Lloyd is a good player and likeable.

Frankly, maybe the most egregious was Alyssa Thomas over Reese.Thomas seems like a smart player, but looked like one of the slowest and worst players on the court last night.

I could be wrong but I saw that Ogunbowale withdrew her name from consideration to play for team USA.

because it was a political process and she saw the writing on the wall that she wasn't going to be selected.

The Indiana Fever are over .500 (18-16) for the 1st time in 5 seasons.  They are now qualified for the playoffs for the 1st time since 2016.  Don't know why there is still any discussion on ROY.  Clark ought to win it on a unanimous vote.

I mean I'm not accusing her of stat-padding, but Angel Reese puts up a ton of rebounds each game but every time I see a highlight or even her game, she'll miss a shot and then grab her own rebound like 5 times before actually making it lol. So she'll end with like 4-18 shooting but finish with a statline of like 12 points, 16 rebounds  :P

If she finishes the regular season on the same pace she has been the last 10-15 games, she should also be second in MVP voting. Any other WNBA season, and I'd argue she should be first, but Wilson has been something this year on both sides of the court.

The Fever are legit contenders this year. That's special

Wow, Angel Reese is only shooting 38%.

That is for someone who is mostly an interior player. Under 15% of her shots come outside of 10 feet. Everything else (85% of her shots) come inside the paint. Still only managing to shoot 38% from the floor? Yikes!

48% on shots a the rim with 55+% of her shots coming from there

25% shooting on short shots 3-10 feet from the basket, under 30% of her shots come from here.

Angel Reese's rebounding numbers are phenomenal.

Top in the league in rebounds per game with 13.2rpg ahead of A'ja Wilson with 12.1rg. The only two players with double digit rebounds per game in the league. So way ahead of the rest of the league.

The advantage Angel Reese has in the offensive rebounds is even more impressive. She has 167 offensive boards. 2nd place Aliyah Boston has only 99. Angel has almost 70% more rebounds than the player in 2nd place. That is incredible!

How many of those offensive rebounds are off her own misses?  She's basically Ben Wallace on offense, but thinks she's Charles Barkley.

Probably a bit two early to compare her to Rodman.  Her DRB% isn't top-20 all-time.  She's still a rookie, so she should get better, but I think it's too early to call her a HOFer.  (Personal bias:  I don't like her stats chasing on a bad team).

Edit:  53 of her offensive rebounds were off her own misses as of August 27.  So, a bit less than two per game.
